While driving to Carlisle this past weekend, we stopped at a rest stop and parked behind a black C4. I don't know much about C4s so I don't know the year ( and forgot to ask the owner ). The car had something on it that I have not seen for a long time. It had what I can only describe as a mid 60s Thunderbird taneau cover. It was made of plastic and molded to the rear of the bucket seats just like the Thunderbirds did. The owner told me that to the best of his knowledge, there were only three like it made. The car was originally a coupe so I guess the hard top was cut off and replaced with the "cover". As we drove away, he was following me and after about 5 minutes it started to sprinkle. That is when it dawned on me that he had no roof and was forced to drive in the rain or pull over and put up a very large unbrella. The car looked simply beautiful. The cover changed the entire appearance of the car, but with no roof at all, it is a bit impractical, even to take to a show.
Anyway, I thought it was unique enough to mention.

Vette(s): Re-acquired 1982 Bright Blue Vette from the guy a sold it to 13 years ago. 1993 40th Anniv. Ruby Convertible- purchased for my wifes 40th birthday-It has Chromed Grand Sport Wheels, Grand Sport Flares and a functional rollbar.
I saw a picture of something like that in the latest edition of the NCM magazine Americas Sportscar. The color on the one in the magazine looks to be some shade of blue, maybe teal or aqua. I'll have to pay closer attention to it when I get home tonight.
Update: It was a picture taken by Randy Leffingwell (who will be at the NCM Labor Day event giving a couple of seminars on photographing Corvettes). He has a new book coming out called Corvette Fifty Years. I think the picture is in this book. The color of the car in the pic in the magazine is probably silver on closer inspection...kinda hard to tell.
cool ride tho'.
