That's just horrible. Stuff like this just reinforces my belief in sitting down and actually going through the owners manual.
I drill this into my wife and now my daughter who turned 16 and just we bought her, her first car. Unfortunately her mom (my ex) couldn't be bothered to allow me to go thru the features of the car because she was in a hurry. So hopefully my daughter will heed my warning. I would be devastated if something similar to this story happened to her. Her mother on the other hand...well lets say I can't be so lucky.
