Vette(s): #1 -1969 Corvette Coupe Riverside Gold, black interior,MN,A/C,350/350,PS,PB,window cranks. #2 -2000 C5, black/black, 6 sp, Bose system & lots of buttons.

I had to go see my surgeon today (I got released and don't have to go back!) so I park in the Professional Bldg. parking lot.  Parked my C5 (Otis) well away from all other vehicles.

I come out and start walkin' through the parking lot to my car and there's a big white Pick-Em-Up-Truck parked right next to my car (no other cars were parked near me).  Hhhhuuuummmmmm........?!  To my left is a large SUV running, but parked close by with a guy in it like he's waiting for someone or thing.  I look to my right, see the white Truck and some guy standing by my C5.  I get closer and the guy jumps in his Pick-Em-Up Truck and hauls off burning rubber along with the SUV outta the parking lot.  Shoot, I tried to get the license plate numbers, but they were hauling off to fast.

I think they were trying to steal Otis.     I'm glad I wasn't driving the Gold Poopon Thang.  Has anyone out there had something simular happen to them like this??

Mick:

Glad to hear the Doc let you go - you're still in my prayers. Also glad the varmits didn't hurt you . They easily could have car naped OTIS and you. Similar thing happened to my wife - but as she walked to the car ( her SUV) she hit the panic alarm on the key fob and scared the ---- out the the thieves(?). Hope you notified the police of what happened - Hay  just a thought - does the parking lot have a survalence camera -  maybe they got caught on tape - or some one else saw their plate number

Stay safe

Big Al

HOLY CRAP

We sure are glad you're OK.  Good news from the Doc.

Ya know, it's a shame they won't let us wire a direct 440 3-phase to our cars that turns off w/the fob.  They'd darn sure have dental records as well as tag numbers then.

I went in to see Superman 3 (Horrible Movie) back in '87 and came out to find my Red 86 Z-28 and another guy's 70 Vette gone.  They had staged a smash and grab at the front of the Mall so's they could get our cars.

The cops told us that they probably were halfway to Mexico by the time the movie was over.

hate to say this but my vette is appraised and insured for more than i would sell it for and i'm looking for a new project (a 68 ragtop preferred). But i would probably utter strange words if it ever disappeared.

Big Al's right glad you didn't get ta go along for that ride. Otis can be replaced you on the other hand...well....(let me think about what I'm gonna type).... can't be (whew that was tuff). KIDDIN!
Just think if'n they'd a took Otis ya coulda go ta vert. And contrary to popular belief it coulda been black. (Wit red primer under it)
I would check ta see if the hopital has the tape "SCUMBAGS IN MOTION". If they do I would be turnin that in. Cause ya know their gonna keep lookin until they hit somebody else. An That Thar Ain't Right!

Thanks Big Al, Joel, Dennis & Larry.  I started running after them to read the plates.  At first I thought the guy in the white pick up hit my car.  I would of fought them if they stayed around......chickens!!

I warned the security guys for that parking lot.  Ya know, those guys don't know if I got the plate numbers or not...come to think about it.

I'm checking out the GPS thread.

Glad yer doin' ok Mick.
I know the feeling....came home from work back in '82, Blu was GONE.
Two black stripes in the driveway and the cover all ripped up laying in the weeds.
Called the Cops, filled out the report, didn't sleep all night. Discovered the Varmits broke into the house, grabbed up all the cash and the keys to Blu. Got a phone call 7 AM that Blu was found 25 miles away, sett'n on the side of the road ----LOCKED??? Damn....they took both sets of keys.
Anyway, interior smoked up, console busted, tail end smashed right on the Vette letters, and dead. Towed it in, found the ignition died right there on the road...so the Varmits had to walk....LOLClap
Really bad when somebody messes wit' yer baby huh?

Mick,

Glad to hear you're doing well enough that your doctor has released you. Hug

It appears that he released you just at the right moment. A few minutes later and you could have gone home without Otis. Happy both you and Otis are safe.
