Is the vin # on the drivers side on the dash under the lower left hand windshield on a 1960 vette?  I have someone taking pictures of the vette for me.  It looks like I might be able to get it early this summer for a decient price.  Next--who rents trailers to transport it home.

According to the Corvette Black Book, early '60s Vettes had the VIN stamped or etched onto a plate attached to the drivers side door post, but most 1960 Vettes had the VIN plate attached to the steering column in the engine bay.

On an early production 1960 the VIN plate will be attached with phillip head screws to the door hinge pillar just below the upper hinge. The remainder of 1960  Vettes had a plate spot welded to the top of the steering column mast jacket about 13 inches rearward of the steering gear housing,

Hey Dick, U-Haul rents car trailers. They can be hard to come by so you have to call around a bit. Will you keep your 77 as well as the 60?
Good luck with it!

Vette(s): 1972 conv., sunfire yellow, blk interior, blk vinyl and convertible top. Off frame restoration with American Speed 383 stroker engine producing 500hp plus a 200hp NOS system. MSD ignition. Hooker super competition headers with chambered exhaust.
I agree with Dave. U-Haul has those swing out fenders. You don't have to worry about trying to crawl out the window coz you can't open the door because of the high fenders.
