Vette(s): Used to own a 1979 Corvette now owned by JB79

Yesterday, I was out in my Vette... I got honks from two non-vettes passing me (toward me)... one of them also waved.  I can only assume that they are Vette owners.

Is this a usual occurence for you guys?

Do you wave when to Vettes while driving your non-Vette?

Should I start doing the same?

Vette(s): SOLD - "The Toy" - '70 Convertible
SOLD - "The Beast" - '90 ZR-1 (#682)
SOLD - "Betty" - '28 Ford Model A Tudor
Sold - "BLKBRRD" - '78 Pontiac Trans Am
"BLUBYU" - '04 Coupe

I find myself waving other Vettes when I'm rolling down the road in the "Silver Buckboard" (my F-150).  I'm sure they're wondering why a Ford driver is waving at them...!!!

When I'm out in "The Toy" I wave at most every classic car that I meet, regardless of make and model, as it is a gesture of 'Thanks for sharing your pride-n-joy with everyone'.

I get the waves and horn honking from time to time. Even when I was out with other C4 & C5's I was sinlged out. I always wave back and give a big smile. I think it's a great PR thing to do. You all know how you feel when you wave at a C5 and get no responce back. I don't feel its right to do the same to non-vette drives. It could be that they might want one and by waving back might push them over the edge to buy so they can be cool like us. Just my 2 cents worth.

Ya know, back in the "old days", when out riding on our scooters, we would wave at all the other bike riders, and they would wave back.('cept the Hardly riders. For some reason, they never waved ) I just don't see that anymore.

I have had many folks wave, or make some other gesture(no, not that one), or honk, etc., while in my '74. It happens less often in the '85, but even then, most other 'Vetters will still give a wave.
I believe the tradition is dying, but I don't know why. I guess most of the folks that are out on any given day are just not really 'Vette people, but just someone who drives one.
I'll always wave at another 'Vette, reguardless of what generation it may be. It's tradition, and I want it to continue. It also shows the newer owners, or even perspective owners, that 'Vette people are friendly folks, and we don't really care if it's a solid-axle or a C-6. It's a CORVETTE.

Vette(s): had a really nice one. sold it to a good friend. Purchased 2004 custom coupe in Feb. 2009 did not tell anyone here until August 2009. BAD I KNOW.

I wave, when I see them, I also wave at other older cars, street rods, they don't wave back.  IMHO, i feel that we are all car people, and a friendly wave just says " hey, I'm a car person too"

I get a lot of thumbs up, head nods, and horns.  The funniest thing was when I was going into the drug store and I pulled into the lot and parked three young teenager were passing by, and one said "hey mister nice car" his buddy was quick to correct him by saying "thats's not a car it's a corvette....

another time at the drug store (sure am there alot) a truck drove by a this babe called out from the window that "my ride is PIMP" I hope that was good.

I must admit, sometimes I am not paying attention to cars coming at me and by the time I notice it was a Vette, it is too late to wave.
I hope they don't think I am one of those snobby C3 owners
When I do notice a Vette coming at me, I stick my arm out as far as possible and wave like I know them. If it is a C5 or C6 and they give me that "Who the heck are you?" look, I just figure this is their first Vette and they haven't heard about the tradition yet. I don't take it personally.
What I really like is when you are driving through Carlisle during Corvettes at Carlisle and every other car is a Vette. You have to drive one handed all the way

I also wave at all vettes and other cool old cars. Sometimes when I am in the daily driver Tahoe and wave to a C4/5 you get a look like who are you, why are you waving to me. I don't care, I still wave, I love cars.............. all kinds, especially vettes.
