Seems like a lot of people loose control of Corvettes. That sure is a lot of money to bust up along with your body.

As some of you know, I spent over 30 years as a worker, driver and steward in the SCCA. I have seen some incredible wrecks during my involvement with the club with surprising few serious injuries. Lately, it seems we have had a rash of fatalities in our area that were the result of being ejected from the car, especially among young drivers. Why anyone would drive a car without wearing their seat belt and shoulder belt is beyond me.
Corvette's are not for the unskilled. Unfortunately, there are many out there with big egos, even bigger wallets and limited driving skills...a dangerous combination.
There is no substitute for low end torque!
I have no experience investigating auto accidents but some training and education in aircraft accident investigation.
The seat and the structure surrounding it appear intact and relatively free of deformation. Also, there appears to be plenty of space between the deflated airbag and the seat. Hard to tell but it looks like there is also open space under the steering column as well. In other words, he had "room to live".
