Hi Fellow C-3 owners. I have a question. Are all C-5 owners pricks or is it just in Michigan? I happen to know two C-5 owners, and when I try to talk Vette with them its like I don't even exsist. Its like, Ya but MY Corvette............goes faster looks nicer, has a bunch of computerized bullcrap, etc. I'll bet the majority of C-5 owners don't know how to work on their own cars, let alone even know the business end of a screwdriver!! You don't have to be a computer or rocket scientist to work on "OUR" (C-3) Vetts. I'll bet most C-5 owners don't know the diference between a Quadrajet or a Holley, or what points are. I got my C-3 (71 Coupe) to have fun. I wave at every corvette that I pass, and I find the only ones that don't wave back are pricks driving C-5's. Oh well for what its worth, I feel better letting you guys know. What are we going to expect from the next generation? Maybe C-5 owners will start waving back and C-6 owners will all be pricks!!! Let me know whatcha think, Floyd Popper. fpopper@netpenny.net |headscratch|

Vette(s): 1976 Stingray, L48 auto Buckskin/Buckskin Leather originally. Numbers matching.
I won't generalize, but perhaps a good number of the C5'ers are more the "look at my cool new Corvette" type than "Corvette community" type. To be quite honest, before I bought mine, I really had no idea of the general "family" type attitude of most Corvette owners. The people that I knew with Vette's all seemed to have a "better than you" attitude. I ride motorcycles, and it's very simular to owning a vette. We give a wave or some sort of recognition to other riders as we pass, but there are some riders who don't get it. Mostly folks rolling on new Harley's, and even the some BMW riders won't even look your way.
I guess those are the people that see thier Vette or Harley as a status symbol, and if you don't run what they do, you are beneath them.
Imagine my suprise when I was out in my primer gray/red/white/buckskin colored, rotted front bumper cover, very tired interior Corvette and recieved a wave and a smile from the driver of a beautiful late C4.

I wave at everyone. Screw them if they don't wave back. When riding my Harley I wave at Harleys, Crotch rockets, whatever, so it doesn't really matter to me. We are all sharing the same "joy" |cheers|

I gotta tell you....my first "wave" was from a PAIR of bright yellow 01 Vettes, one conv top down and one coupe top off, 8 hands came up over the windshield of theose 2 C5s despite the road. Round here a lot of C4 drivers don't wave either, who cares, those who do know the joy, those who don't, are just missing out.

Give the C5’s a little time. Many of the drivers are professionals who just went out and bought a car that appeals to their lifestyle. To them it is just a car. Give them some time to catch the “Fever” and learn to “Save the Wave”. |thumb|

Most Vetters wave out here, just a few don't. Being a chick in a Vette is hard sometimes. Like when a guy in a Vette just gives that little "i'm too cool for you" head nod. I hate that! Just freakin wave like you're normal for heavens sake! lol Listen, the next time they start to brag about their C5, just tell them what I told Steve, whom I was just dating at the time, and I've told others this too with a big smile on my face..... "if it wasn't for all the other Vettes, you wouldn't be driving a C5 right now dude!"

I think if you know about "The Wave" you do it no matter what generation Vette you are driving. Like others, I'm guessing most newer Vette owners don't even know about "The Wave".

I do have to say, that the other day, I was driving my C3 and I wasn't really looking at the cars coming toward me, but out the corner of my eye I caught a Wave and looked over in time to wave back to the driver of a C5! So they're out there... just gotta find the right ones!

By the way, I think this was the first time someone waved to me first! I'm usually on the lookout and I wave first. So it was cool giving a wave back, instead of the initial wave! |wavey|

From a "soon to be" owner of a C5, I'll keep up my habit of waving to all vettes. I love it when I get a wave back and feel that the ones that don't wave just don't get it! There are 3 C5's in my small town, and I get waves from 2 all the time. The 3rd will either ignore you or give you a little finger lift (No, not THAT finger LOL) My husband can and does work on our C3 but has said when we get the C5 there really isn't a lot he'll be able to work on as so much is computerized. Hopefully, nothing will have to be worked on for quite a while. |saluteflag|

I really appreciate all the replies to my C-5 comment. Not all Vette owners are happy people like me, so I guess the happy ones wave and the ones who don't, So What! I changed my attitude and I'll keep on wavin' Floyd Popper |thumb| |thumb| |thumb|
