Vette(s): 1969 Daytona Yellow Coupe - ZZ4/4 speed, Hurst shifter, Griffin aluminum radiator w/ Dual Spals, March Serpentine Pulley kit, Hookers with STS Racing Baffles, VB&P Suspension bits, 17" AR Hopsters, L-88 Hood
Got my monthly newsletter from the HOA today...usually full of crap that I could care less about, like who bid to clean the community pool or that someone is bitching about an overgrown tree. Then I hit the page that says a neighbor won a '67 L89 vert off of a $50 raffle ticket. Hope I spot it in person one of these days soon.

Man that is the best $50.00 that gal will have ever spent. My advice to you is locate her in the advent she isn't too keen on keeping the vette. Maybe she would be more willing to trade for something different! (Like a nice sensible Volvo...

Sweet ride. For some reason, I will never be that lucky. Mostly because I am too cheap to spend the money on tickets to win the darn thing. I remember seeing the vette in one of the magazines. It looks awesome.

A guy right here in my town won a new C6 Vert earlier this year. Red with black interior. Great looking car too.

Honestly I do not know if the lucky winner was lucky of not...

Seems I have never heard of a Happy winner 6-7 months AFTER they
won the car and had to deal with the IRS ..

Knew the guy who won the give a way car at Carlisle about 4-5 years ago... turned out to be a very expensive "win"... one that in the end was ok because he only had to pay 3/4 of what the car was worth in taxes
but the hassle with the IRS (State & Federal) was the killer...

But then again getting a 25 PERCENT DISCOUNT off a Mid Year would be nice...but it is not like it was free for sure

First, you have to win a lottery, pay the taxes on that, win the car so you can spend the rest of you lottery winnings on the taxes for the car you just won.

Makes sense to me.

Wow my favorite kind of Corvette, a $50 Corvette   That car is beautiful, even know I'm not fond of the Red line wheels and Red Stinger, hell who would complain

Vette(s): 1979, 350sb, as my kids affectionately call it "shit brown" Corvette purchased in 1996. 84,000+ miles. Not a show car, but I love her just the same.

Depends on what the posted (stated) value of the vehicle was for the raffle.  THat's what you have to pay the taxes on because the Fed considers it as part of your income.  I believe there may also be a penalty because the value would more than likely put anyone over the 90% estimated income you had from the previous year.

Ahh, the joys of dealing with that one little word - FREE!

Still, then again, I could handle winning a 67 vert for the price of $50.00, no matter what the cost of taxes.

If I had won that car, I would of my pants (the same color of VD79's Vette). Maybe then the IRS would stay away long enough to get away!!
