A large majority of voters voted that the 2006 C3VR Member Gathering NOT take place during an already existing Corvette Event.

With that in mind, please reply to this thread to suggest places you think would be a fun place for us to gather anywhere in North America.  When you post your suggestion, please post a reason or two why you are picking the location... like what there is to do/see there.  For example, if you picked Orlando, you could say because it has Disney World.

Please sumbit your suggestion no later than 11/27/05!!

After suggestions have been made, I will start a new poll and give everyone the chance to vote on the location.

I'll start the thread by suggesting San Diego, California.  I hear it is a really nice place to visit and will give the West Coast C3VR folks a chance to easily get to the annual C3VR gathering, for a change. Also, for selfish reasons... if it winds up being there, I have a good chance that my wife will want to come with me.

-------------------

As of 11/18, here's what has been suggested so far. feel free to keep adding to the list!

Tacoma, Washington
Seattle, Washington
Portland, Oregon
Sonoma/Napa, California
San Diego, California
San Francisco, California
Yosemite National Park, California
Salt Lake City, Utah
Denver, Colorado
Las Vegas, Nevada
Reno, Nevada
St Louis, Missouri
Branson, Missouri
New Orleans, Louisiana
Pigeon Forge, Tennessee
Cleveland, Ohio
Miami, Florida
Panama City, Florida

I think San Diego is a great place...the weather is perfect all year long and there is no humidity.....I have some friends I could visit also! Hey, wouldn't it be nice to caravan across the country and pick up different members in different states....I bet that caravan would be miles long! Wink

Hi All,

I like the Las Vegas and San Diego ideas as well.  Timing has kept us from the last two, but we're determined to make it.  My wife and I plan to take both cars.  I really like the caravan idea.  Safety in numbers you know.

Vette(s): had a really nice one. sold it to a good friend. Purchased 2004 custom coupe in Feb. 2009 did not tell anyone here until August 2009. BAD I KNOW.

As I have mentioned in the past, Las Vegas would be a site to consider, lots to do, hotels would probably take good care of our babies, hotels, food, drinks, shows, are all as a rule going to be a better bang for your buck, also have to look at the chance of hitting a jackpot large enough to help off set some of the cost of the trip, could look into a special blackjack, slot, texas holdem tourney just for c3vr attendees.

I have never been to San Diego, but I always enjoy new places, the coast drive would be a sweet one with a few vettes in a row, I also think my son is stationed near by at camp pendelton.

I also have always wanted to see mont rushmore and that crazy horse thing.  Really does not matter, if it is close even and I have enough notice, I go any where, since the effort has been made to try to included us folks with the water in our ears..

Keep up the good work Adam....

Well, how about this one, might sound a little weird, but hear me out...

NEW ORLEANS

This is Why.....

1) I live here

2) Hotels ARE open and available and many more will be soon.

3) From my math 149 members live within an EASY 1 day drive almost 20% of total membership

4) French Quarter and Bourbon St. are open - need I say more?

5) Money spent here will help an area that desperately needs tourism dollars to start rolling again.

6) We have lights, and casinos as well Vegas people.

7) Most hotels downtown have secure (hotel only) parking garages

8) It will most likely be nice and warm, no matter what time of year (might rain though)

9) Probably be able to get some great deals since tourism is lacking right now.

Where the heck is Carmen San Diego?
Vegas would be too tempting for my wallet!
While I will plan on being at the "event/gathering" where-ever it may be, travel time will be a big issue. Don't want to spend 2-3 days driving, and only be able to attend the event for 1 day! But......that being said, I'm up for anything!!
Hey, how 'bout the Dallas/Ft. Worth area?
You could:
Get your car stolen/carjacked
Get shot/stabbed
Get ripped off at hotels
Drive around in circles all day on Loop 12/820
etc. etc.
Sounds like FUN, no?!

If we're talking late May then San Diego is a great choice. Not only is it a great city, but on Sunday, May 21st is the 29th annual Plastic Fantastic show...I went last year and plan on going again. This show is awesome...hundreds of Corvettes parked on the water at a place called Seaport Village Embarcadero. It's a beautiful location for a show and there are a ton of restaurants and shops right there also. Keep in mind this is a one day thing that ends in the middle of the afternoon, not some huge event. They would $hit themselves if a bunch of C3's with out of state plates rolled up. If not San Diego, then I vote Vegas. There is an unlimited amount of stuff to do there and it's open 24/7...that town is a blast.
