Topic: 2006 Gathering Location (round 2)
in Forum: Annual C3VR Member Gathering

I think that soap box derby idea would be cool. to make c3vr stand out amongst all the other organizations and not need chevrolet to sponsor it. willing corvettes to do it on their own. that would be cool. i am a member of Central Jersey Corvette Club and I am sure i can get some of the others to show up. ( then again, they will probably go to most of the other locations as well).
My suggestion would be either Denver, Colorado springs. there are great parks out there to visit and to have everybody do a large cruise through the mountain range. that would be fun. though you can do this idea in west virginia and up in the new england area as well.
as far as who will go where..i think we need to do this show right in the middle so people from the west and east both have to drive almost the same distance. then no one can complain on who has to drive farther than the other. i admit i am not a fan of driving my vette those distnaces. my car has almost 200,000 miles on it original. i don't want to push it too far.
Another idea could be atlanta, Georgia. plenty of sites to see there and museums etc.. I have been there and its a great place to bring our cars to.

No matter where you go the Alaskan Corvette will be there, I was planning on the October BG thing for 2006, but, I will save tons of fuel money if you all meet west of the Mississippi? California, Las Vegas, Reno, I just need to know so I can plan on my Vacation Request?..Terry
P.S. The car is very close to the paint booth..Yea..It will be ready

Hey Guys,
What about good old New York ? Everyone seems to forget about us city folks. Yes, I live here and there's nothing we don't have. Food, sites, entertainment etc. I live in Queens where the hotels are cheaper and the roads are smooth on the Island. Think about it !

I'm going to go with Branson. It is located in the center of the country and the guys on the left and right coasts wouldn't have to travel completely across the country. Also, as others have pointed out, there is a lot to do there. The first part of June they are having their annual Corvette show. Be great if a school of sharks came in on them. (I guess a group of sharks is a school)

There's a lot of talk about Branson because it is centrally located.
You need to remember, no matter where it is, there are people that will be really close, some that are reasonably close, and some that are too far.
I drove 800 miles to Bowling Green. Many people feel 800 miles is too far to drive their Vette, some think that is too far to drive in any vehicle. I'm going to put a poll up to see what is the furthest people would drive their Vette to an event.
FYI, here are some distances (in a straight line) from these points to Branson, MO:
1660 miles from Seatle
1590 miles from San Fran
1380 miles from San Diego
1060 miles from Miami
1000 miles from Philly
1240 miles from Boston
465 miles from Chicago
600 miles from Minneapolis
So, it is still far for people from the west coast. Granted, it is better than the 2300 miles from Philly to San Diego, but 1600 is still far.
