2007 Member Gathering Master Caravan List

Here's a list of the main caravans heading for Carson City in alphabetical order. This will be a reference list only so please send any additions and/or updates to me (Norsky) and I'll keep this list as current as possible. All information listed here has either been gathered from the caravan threads or supplied by the caravan coordinators. Phone and/or CB/FRS Radio contact information is especially helpful to have for anyone wishing to hookup with another group while enroute.

So before starting another caravan thread look through this list to see if one of the existing ones is a fit for you. If not feel free to start a new thread and get the pertinent information to me so I can update this list.

*** For folks westbound on I-80 there is the potential to pick a gathering point in Utah on Wednesday morning, June 20th, for a massed run into CC. More info will be available as more regional caravan info is received. ***

There are several caravans with opportunities for coordinators. If you're interested in being the point person on one of them please let me know.

Westbound route:

I-74 West across Indiana, around Indianapolis, across Illinios to

I-80 at the Quad Cities (Illinois/Iowa border). I-80 west across

Iowa/Nebraska/Wyoming/Utah/Nevada to Reno, then south to

Carson City arriving at Holiday Inn Express.

Enroute overnight stops TBD.

Caravan overview:
     NW New Jersey to Carson City on I-80 West all the way. Anyone

who wants to jump on I-80 can join us. Exact overnight stops are

not worked out yet.

Westbound route:

- 6/16, Saturday AM, depart NW New Jersey west on I-80 into

northern Indiana (I-69 & I-80), 595 miles.

(meet up with Dave Wright west of Cleveland, OH)

- 6/17, Sunday AM, west on I-80 , meet up with folks coming on I-74

at I-80 exit 306 in Davenport, Iowa, in the Super8 Motel

parking lot at 12-12:30pm and then on to Omaha, NE (I-80 &

I-35), 560 miles.

- 6/18, Monday AM, west on I-80 to Cheyenne, WY (I-80 & I-25), 547 miles

- 6/19, Tuesday AM, west on I-80 to Salt Lake City, UT (I-80 & I-15), 439 miles

(meet up with Jim (Norsky) & others for the final leg on Wed.)

- 6/20, Wednesday AM, west on I-80 to Carson City, 548 miles

Caravan overview:
     Depart Seattle/Tacoma on Tuesday, June 19th on I-5 south to
     Portland, Oregon and connect to I-84 heading east to Hwy 97.
     Then take Hwy 97 south to Redmond, Oregon for a planned
     overnight stop and paint the town red while we are there.
     On Wednesday, June 20th, we will head south to Crater Lake for
     a photo opportunity, then on to Klamath Falls and connect with
     Hwy 39 Oregon/Hwy139 California to Susanville where we will
     catch Hwy 395 to Reno and Carson City.
     Arrive Carson City Wednesday, June 20th

So far we are 15 Corvettes strong, 14 on the pavement and one

on a trailer.

CARAVAN - from Oklahoma

Caravan overview:

Tenative plan will be out the following route, picking up Rte 66 as the

maps show good road. I have driven 66 from NM back to OKC and it

runs out a LOT in the Texas panhandle. It's good road in NM and

mostly in OK so there is ample opportunity to run it however, it will add

significantly to the time as it goes thru lots of towns as main street

(hence the main street USA name), so you are slowing down to 35 - 45

mph and most of it is 65 - 70 max mph. Overnight stops have yet to

be determined

     Westbound route:
    - I-40 West from OKC to I-15 South 1230.2 miles.
      - I-15 South 3.4 miles to CA-58W.
    - CA-58W toward Bakersfield CA 30 miles.
      - Right on US-395N (crossing into NV) 349.7 miles ending Carson City.

    Total Est. Time W/O Rte 66, 23 hours, 59 Minutes

Total Est. Distance 1617.64 miles

Lots of seat time and even more for the East Coasties!
