Many folks asked me during the 2007 gathering where 2008 will be.While I'd love it if I already knew, I don't. The answer I told everyone was this... I don't know yet, and I can't think about it right now. I need to focus on my charity Corvette show, Corvettes for a Cure, on July 22nd. After that, I'm taking a break from event planning for awhile. (Of course, I have to worry about Carlisle and Funfest, but I pretty much just have to show up for those).I do know this... it needs to be in the middle of the country for 2008.Based on the Member Map, I'm thinking Kansas, Oklahoma, Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Missouri and Illinois. So, let's have this thread be about suggestions for cities in those states that would make a good spot. Please include reasons for your nomination (things to do, see, etc). Also, if you know, include a good time of year to visit. When I'm ready to start planning for 2008, I'll look to this thread to help me pick 3 cities and will then put those three to a vote. Disclaimer: I may go off the list of nominees if I find something I like that is not on the list.Any votes for Winnipeg, Manitoba - Canada!?Thanks gang!

UPDATED 7-8-07: Areas suggested for '08 Gathering location to date:
Dallas/Ft. Worth, TX
St. Louis, MO
Branson, MO
Hannibal, MO
Kansas City, KS
Oklahoma City, OK
Eureka Springs, ARK
Hot Springs, ARK
Little Rock, ARK
Rogers, ARK
Ft.Smith, ARK
Conway, ARK
Chippewa Falls, WIS
Bad Lands, Mt. Rushmore, Sturgis, N/S Dakota
Hell, Mi.(not really in the region, I just thought it was funny...)

(Indy has been suggested, but is not in the region agreed on for this gathering. Strangely enough, there have been no suggestions for Winnipeg, Manitoba - Canada...)

Vette(s): Silver 1974 Convertible - L82 4 speed Low miles (was only 8,900 when I bought it in March 2006) - Now 54K miles. Original owner bought it as an investment for son's college expenses. 2008 Jetstream Blue Convertible
Ok, Adam, you didn't list Indiana, but I'll throw Indianapolis' name in the ring anyway.

There is always something to do here.  We've got sports (Victory Field, home of the minor league Indianapolis Indians was voted the best minor league ballpark in America); we've got outdoor activities in many of the city or state parks nearby; we've got indoor activities with lots of malls and a few places to go indoor go-carting (they get up to pretty high speeds); and we've got the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

Regardless, after all of the great things said about this year's gathering, I don't want to miss next year!

I wanted a Corvette my whole life, but I never dreamed of all the wonderful people I would meet because of it!

I'm going to agree with Marshall on Indianapolis, Indiana, there is alotta sports/auto related things to do in that area.

My second suggestion would have to be Dallas-Ft Worth, whats there hummmmm.  I'll let the Texan's cover that one Thumbs%20Up  I just love Dallas, cool city.

Right there with ya brother MANGET1! I'll help with the Indy legwork if chosen.

If not then I suggest Effingham Ill. We would be knocking on Mike Yagers backdoor.

With a lil beggin I bet we could do some pretty neat stuff with some aid from our favorite Chief Cheerleader....

We could try st.louis, effingham is only 2 hours from there ( would make a good cruise) and I have some good maps of RT.66 that run right through the northern edge of st. louis

Kansas appears to be pretty much in the middle of the country...fairly equal distance for folks from both coasts. Seems to me that would be the best, in order to have the most people be able to attend. Just an opinion.

OK, guys, how about Branson, Mo.   It's in the center of the country, also, about 40 miles south of Springfield, Mo.   There's a lot of entertainment there, cool lakes, winding roads to cruise, Silver Dollar City with arts, crafts and an amusement park, and a Corvette Show in June.   A lot of us in Carson City liked that idea.
