OK, guys, how about Branson, Mo. It's in the center of the country, also, about 40 miles south of Springfield, Mo. There's a lot of entertainment there, cool lakes, winding roads to cruise, Silver Dollar City with arts, crafts and an amusement park, and a Corvette Show in June. A lot of us in Carson City liked that idea.

I think central too... as the folks in the lower half can have somewhat "easier" access...

I'm gonna throw this out. I like Indy, but what else is there to do other than the Speedway? No offense Hoosiers, but I'm from Chicago, home of the Super Bowl runner up Bears!
But how about French Lick, Indiana? It's about 70 miles S/W of Indy. Nice quiet resort area, gambling for those inclined. Indy could be a day trip away. Bowling Green and or Mammoth Cave could even be a day trip or even an overniter. Lots of nice empty(last I was down there)2 lanes winding roads through the Hoosier National Forest. Just a different idea.....Mike mkapp7879 2007-06-29 22:21:41

kansas maybe we could could we please mr. wizard have a corn maze for our corvettes to drive through.

My wife an I are going to take a vette cruise here on Sunday with 6 couples of Vette Friends. We are going to return to the West Baden Hotel and hit hit the French Lick Resort & Casino.

As a point of possible future reference I'll jot a few things down as I see them. Oh and I'll take a few pics and put them in my Webshots page for folks to look at. Once I have this done I will start a topic for your viewing pleasure....

Vette(s): Silver 1974 Convertible - L82 4 speed
Low miles (was only 8,900 when I bought it in March 2006) - Now 54K miles. Original owner bought it as an investment for son's college expenses.
2008 Jetstream Blue Convertible
Please don't lump me in with those...Hoosiers (blech) (present company excepted). Just because I live in the state now doesn't change the fact that I'm a born and bred Illini!!!!
Anyway, I haven't seen a bad idea listed yet! I have been hearing negative things about St. Louis and crime over the past few years, but I am planning a trip there this year, so like Tux, I can keep my eyes open for things.
Also in southern IN (not far from French Lick), there is a state park with an Inn. The wife and I are going there for a getaway next weekend, so that could be an additional option for lodging and things to do.
Mike, there are plenty of other things to do in Indy, and lots of stuff nearby, but, going to French Lick or elsewhere in So IN would certainly allow for a day trip to the Speedway, which would most likely be the key draw for everyone anyway.
Never been to Branson, but it has sounded interesting from what people have told me. Hmmmm
I wanted a Corvette my whole life, but I never dreamed of all the wonderful people I would meet because of it!
Wife and I are going to Branson in August. We will take some pics and see what is interesting there. Susie went there last year and came home and said she wanted to move there. HUM don't think so. We will be driving the corvette to Florida in August. Any suggestions on things to see going and coming back. We would like to hit part of Route 66..
I thought the next meeting was to be in the midwest. Indy is not in the midwest.
If you check it out, NY to Indy is @700 miles and LA to Indy is @2000 miles. Branson to NY is @1200 miles and LA to Branson is @1600 miles. Branson is much closer to the center of the country which will make it easier for the midwest and west coasters to make the gathering. The only place that would be more centrally located would be Dallas, Oklahoma City, KC, etc.
Indy is almost directly north of Bowling Green and there's already been 2 gatherings at Bowling Green and one in Pidgeon Forge.

Pointz well taken... I don't know why they call Indiana the Midwest but it has been label that all of my life. Just like Effingham is the Crossroads of America.
I went to French Lick today and if left I to me I wouldn't consider that location. (it isn't left up to me though)
I will help if the group choses Indy but no more said until a vote is taken from me.
Personnally I like Branson because I haven't been there and have heard many say there is lotz to do.
All that being said I'm done until Adam post a voting poll.

Same here, Tux, just wanting to make a point. No hard feelings.
Quite a few of the west coasters at CC said they wanted to come to the next gathering in the midwest and I fear that if its too far east, they may back out. I was just making a point too, and am done until the voting poll.
