Just a thought, but lets try to get a hotel with an indoor pool and a lounge/bar. Last year in Hot Springs it was nice to be able to hang out with everyone at the bar.Really increased the socializing among members.
Otherwise everyone just heads to their rooms after dinner.
Just my $.02.

Also they have some nice boat tours of the harbor and surrounding area. We could probably look into that. I also know of a great caterer that could do a New England Lobster dinner for us. Let me dig into my information about Newport and get more information.
The Newport Music Festival was held July 11-27 this year.  This is a HUGE gathering so we may run into problems if it is scheduled for the same timeframe next year.  The Newport Jazz Festival is in August but looks like it is just a long weekend event.
Folks,
Adam requested that the Gathering be held in July.
Does anyone know how congested the area will be on July 16-19 or July 23-26?

Adam- Is August 6-9 or August 13-16 a possibility for you?

Any other suggestions?

I can't remember--was there a special reason that we chose July or August for the 2009 Gathering?  This year's in Hot Springs was in April so the temps were pretty nice (except for the one cold, rainy day Wink).

I'm just thinking about driving the 'Vette from Texas to Rhode Island (1665 miles--I just looked it up) in the middle of summer. (And here's the real problem--the passenger T-top's tinting isn't as dark as the driver's side, so that means I'll be burning under the hot sun lots of the time phew)

Anyway, just curious about the date choice. Smile
