I would prefer to stay out of S.F. and San Diego due to trafic. Northern Calf, Southern Oregon or Central Oregon like Bend is beautiful. They have a big car show there every summer. Lots to do. I am taking the family to Bryce Canyon in UT this summer. I hear it's a very interesting area. Colorado would work but is a 2 day run ~1300 milles

Low miles (was only 8,900 when I bought it in March 2006) - Now 54K miles. Original owner bought it as an investment for son's college expenses.

I would like to see this process more formalized. Step 1, nomination and 'seconding' (not sure if that's a word, but I think you know what I mean). Step 2, official vote.
Choices for this year's gathering location vote were limited, and locations that had support from more than one person were not included in the official vote. Now we have a low turnout signed up for the chosen location.
Sounds like so far, the Northwest and Colorado have met the criteria for step 1 (if my proposal is accepted).
I wanted a Corvette my whole life, but I never dreamed of all the wonderful people I would meet because of it!
We're in and we like the idea of Colorado Springs, but, don't matter to a couple of retired people with lots of time on their hands and itch'en to see every road in the USA

If I would vote today I would cast a vote to go to visit me brothers and sistas in the Northwest who seem to have it on the ball. (Really I'm just after some of Bad Larry's Bar-b-que......

Ok, so, bring on the suggestions.
People have already been doing so above.
The problem is if everyone suggests a different place, then we'll have 30+ locations with one vote each. So how do we narrow that down to a top 5 or so? Someone (or a couple of someones) need to come up with a list that will become the official list to vote on. So, unless people want to volunteer to be on a 2010 gathering committee, then I'll likely be the one that picks 5 locations and puts it to a vote. Not to discount those that have helped in that past, but some people like to complain about the process, no matter what that process is, yet they don't step up to be part of the planning.
And I think it happens every year that no matter what the process is, there are always a few that don't like it. Then there are some that say "doesn't matter to me...you guys pick a place and I'll be there." There never seems to be a happy medium.

There are something like 6-8 fairly involved members right here in the NW.
Bend would be great or anywhere along the ocean.
You want results just ask us and it WILL happen.

Well here we go! What is so difficult about having "30+" places-there's no way that that would happen, BUT if it did, then you hold another vote to get down to the top 5 and then LET THE MEMBERS DECIDE BY VOTING.
After Pigeon Forge we think all the Gathering work was done by the volunteers in the area in which it was being held-as it was for this year in the Northeast. This was well discussed at the PF meeting.
As to your comment of "there never seems to be a happy medium", if you remember in the past you didn't like the way the vote went and you made it an "invalid" vote.
T-Mans 70,73 has already volunteered to offer suggestions. Let the group in the NW come up with some areas that would be a great Vette Gathering place. Now the heat's off of you Adam because they can post the locations and then the MEMBERS CAN VOTE (it's not like you'll be driving there because you fly to the events).
What were you thinking when you came up with SanDiego and San Francisco? You have always asked for criteria when members have come up with suggestions of places-what was yours???
We hope that you appreciate all the volunteers in the club and what they have made the C3VR because without them this would not be near the success that it is now. Butch & Jane
Kids, kids, kids.... let's not get all worked up about this topic again. Please re-read Adam's initial post. There are three key words there -
1) thinking;
1) thinking;
2) probably; and
3) Thoughts?
The way I read his post is that he is looking for suggestions on where to have the gathering and tossed out 3 suggestions of his own. That didn't read like a mandate to me.
Over the coming weekend I will start another thread that will be the first in the process of determining the gathering's location. In that thread post the city/area in the West Region you think would be a good place to have the gathering, list points of interest for things to do (a go-kart track is MANDATORY!!!
), and do a little research to see if there will be any other activities competing for lodging in the July/August timeframe so dates of conflict can be avoided if possible. That thread will be for listing locations only - NO DISCUSSION OF SUGGESTIONS. This thread will be discussion place and discussion posts will be relocated here should they happen to pop in the list.
After the 2009 gathering has concluded I'll put together a polling thread of all the suggested locations for EVERYONE to vote on until the 15th of August.

After the 2009 gathering has concluded I'll put together a polling thread of all the suggested locations for EVERYONE to vote on until the 15th of August.
Then I'll put together a second polling thread which will contain the top locations voted on for EVERYONE to vote on again until the 15th of September to determine the gathering's location. That should give folks plenty of time to schedule/bid for 2010 vacation time. If there is a tie I'll put together a final polling thread to determine a winner - the voting will end on September 30th which should still be plenty of time to submit vacation requests. (If a 2nd tie occurs bribes will be accepted for declaring a winner...!!!
)

The past several gatherings have been hugely successful because of the energy and creativeness of the many volunteers who have devoted countless hours in researching and coordinating the activities. And Adam along with most of the folks who have attended those gatherings have expressed their thanks multiple times for jobs well done. Wherever the 2010 gathering ends up being held I'm sure there will be a top notch agenda put together by another crew of dedicated volunteers.
So let's put the "stir sticks" away and start pulling on the oars together so we can get the planning for the 2010 gathering headed in the fun direction...!!!

[QUOTE=Adam Wartell]2010 will be in the West Region.
I'm thinking about San Francisco CA, San Diego, CA or Colorado Springs, CO.
Check out this map.Also, probably will be held during July or August.

Disney Land would be great. Just think of all those cars lined up at the resort being guarded by Mickey Mouse and Goofy. Montery California is nice if you like scenic drives. But MY VOTE would be for Colorado. Never been there and a two day drive sounds great. Wish we could be at the 2009 event. Conn has spectacular scenery and close to everything.

Heres my 3 cents...
You all went to Carson City last time, Southwest.
Now its time for the Great Pacific Northwest and its great members.
So then lets talk location.
Bend Oregon is cool. Nice town, we honeymooned there 20 years ago. But I am at a loss as to what to do after a day there. A drive to Crater Lake might be nice.
Here is my preference.
The coast. Seaside, Cannon Beach, Tillimook, Lincoln City, Newport.
The drives would be fantastic, there are GO-CART TRACKS!!!, and lots of little shops and activities.
Coast would have a better chance that folks who didnt drive but wanted to come would enjoy the trip.
Bend would be cheaper.
There you have it. Maybe 4 cents worth.
