Oregon coast is beautiful. I'm there this weekend :) Driving on 101 would be great fun in the Vettes. Prolly have to be in July or August to avoid lots of rain. This weekend is absolutely gorgeous! Was around 80 yesterday! There was a beautiful c3 vert parked outside my window last night. Bet they had a great drive.
Larry (bad larry) started an email amoungst us northwesterns to come up with a proposal and ideas for activities. Not sure where that stands now, but we are batting ideas around. There's lots of beautiful scenic drives in the NW...Columbia river gorge, Mt Hood Loop, Mt St Helens, 101 on the coast, just to name a few.

Do I detect a little Forghorn Leghorn accent coming from up nort' there Jim?
I can only speak for myself - not sure if I would make it all the way West, but so far the suggestion of far NW, along with the expertise and willingness of the folks out there to plan events has me sold.
I wanted a Corvette my whole life, but I never dreamed of all the wonderful people I would meet because of it!
Ya shure ya bet'cha...!!! That phrase was also part of announcements heard on the PA system at the Air Force Academy many, many years ago.
A few years ago we did a family trek that included the Columbia River valley, the Oregon coast from Astoria to Coos Bay and a stop at Crater Lake National Park. That part of the country is indeed SPECTACULAR...!!! Did lots of sight seeing along the way so it was a 5 day journey from MN to the coast.

[/QUOTE] I was thinking about that the other day. Had google earth zoomed in to take a peek. Looked like there might be some spectacular drives along the coast.
I've been to Monterey/Carmel many times and the central CA coast dosen't hold a candle to the Oregon coast( used to live in Brookings). Also Cannery Row will be very crowded on the weekends. But on the other hand Bubba Gumps has great food!
Sorry Jim! I've been away too long....lost my ablity to read (I think). I'll move my little comment to the other thread, too.
Just on a side note... DO NOT EVER consider driving anywhere near Seaside Oregon on July 5th!!! UGH!!!! We stayed at a friends in Seaside for the 4th and tried to come back around 11is on the 5th. What a joke! Started heading through Seaside to 26 to head back to Portland. After 20 minutes and moving 2 blocks I turned around and headed to Astoria, down hwy 30, across Longview Bridge into Washington then down I5/I205 to Gresham. WHAT A FREAKIN MESS! (Rant over)
