I'm in for the Oregon Coast but as Karen mentioned the weather can be if'ie if you don't plan for late in the summer, still then it can be very cool in the morning and evenings. We have a lot of great folks in the NW who (I'm sure) would be glad to help in organizing events. My only concern, as mentioned in Larry group email is the isoluation (if you can call it that) that the Oregon Coast is from the rest of the country. I had mentioned that we might get a lot more folks to attend if it was somewhere more central to the west like maybe Salt Lake City/Park city area. People may say the traffic is bad in a certain city, well the traffics bad in and around all cities in the US. Thats my 2 cents on the matter, but if the NW is selected I'd be glad to help all that I can

Hmmm.... We've been talking about doing a South Sound trip... Could be next year.... Hmmm..... I believe Mike will be doing the Oregon Offshore and Swiftsure sailboat races next year. That puts the boat up in Pudget Sound for most of the summer. A South Sound sail sounds REALLY nice!!! Keep talkin Larry....

WA & OR get my vote. I agree with Mike (ParrotHead) on his locations, that pretty much covers it. Two state coverage that's cool, it's all close together, nice drives & stuff!
I would like to add our own back yard so to speak. The grays harbor area.
1) deep sea fishing, whale watching, razor clam digging (maybe) fishing for dungness crab. trips into the rain forrest, mt rainier, mt st helens, casinos, trips to hood canal. BBQ AT LARRY"S. pictures at Tmans tree farm. where i live there is only one(1) not a typo, stop light, we are small nice community that is 2 to 3 hours away from seattle portland and canada. our cost of living is very low so we could get a lot of bang for our buck. we would also be able to get lots of time in local news paper and radio as well, our little meeting would generatre a lot of talk. great roads to make a cruises up on. have lots of places we could have very large turn outs at with little to no traffic. we also have a very active strong group that would put on one hellofa getogether, thats a promise.
there i did it. lets see june july there is stuff going on every week end at either westport or ocean shores mid july huge harley festival, first part of august hydro racing in seattle (maybe mike and karen could have sail boat for us to watch from water.
I think it would be nice if it where a little closer to the middle of the country so maybe more people would drive. Colorado or someplace. I like the idea of Colorado Springs...maybe Yellowstone or someplace like that. Don't get me wrong, I love the Great Northwest, but I can't drive my 37 year old Corvette that far. I say Breckenridge Colorado.
I'm with Lonnie on this one. This year it was in the far Northeast corner, if it's in the far Northweast corner next year, us'ns in the middle don't get to go but once every three years! I wouldn't mind the drive to Colorado (the old jalopy might), a 900+ mile trip. It's nice to have it in your back yard, but seems like it could draw more members being a bit more centrally located in the west. We're for Colorado Springs.

I know the voices aren't real, but they have some pretty cool ideas...

Yeah... you would think that. But we proved this year that proximity to members seems to have no effect on attendance.
What you look at this map, you'll see a huge majority of C3VR member reside in the NorthEast. Yet we only had 25 people at this year's gathering in Mystic, CT.
And yet, only a small amount live near Carson City, NV, but we had 75 people there.
So I would not worry about locating it near where members live.
Go for an exciting location.

I agree with Dwain that Colorado Springs would be a pretty good place... there's quite a few things to do. Naturally there's Pikes Peak and Garden of the Gods, but also it's a cool mountain road trip to see Cripple Creek and its casinos. Weather's great just about all summer, not too hot or too cool.
