With the 2017 gathering behind us, folks like to start figuring out ASAP where the next gathering will be.
As per the rotation schedule, the 2018 gathering needs to be somewhere in the East region.  You can see the regions and past locations using this map.

Reply to this thread with a city of your choice along with some reasons why the location would be a good choice for us.  You may want to suggest a good time to visit as well.

Thanks!

Vette(s): 2004 Commemorative Edition Coupe, Auto w/HUD. 13K miles in 2015. Sold 1982 Red Coupe
Ocean City MD. Many members have been there or live near by. They can suggest restaurants and places to see. I would go either early June or mid September to avoid the crowds.

Vette(s): 1972 conv, 4-speed, 350, 200hp, numbers match, rally wheels, war bonnett yellow w/white top. good condition, nice driver.
I don't know much about the area, but WILLIAMSBURG, Virginia is historical. I'm sure it will be expensive too. I agree on early June for date. Beat the heat and the crowd.

Vette(s): #1 *1980 White, Red interior 14,000 mile #2 *1980 Red, Oyster interior 93,000 miles Resto project car, rebuilt to 383 stroker
Virginia sounds nice, would love to do the blue ridge parkway. Williamsburg is beautiful, been there a few times lots of history.

I would host a Adirondacks, Old Forge, Saranac Lake, Lake Placid  event if it's in NY. June around now before schools out and traffic starts.

Vette(s): Silver 1974 Convertible - L82 4 speed Low miles (was only 8,900 when I bought it in March 2006) - Now 54K miles. Original owner bought it as an investment for son's college expenses. 2008 Jetstream Blue Convertible
Other suggestions mentioned: Key West; Indianapolis; Cincinatti; or a combination of Indy and Cincy

I wanted a Corvette my whole life, but I never dreamed of all the wonderful people I would meet because of it!

Ideas for Indianapolis include:

  • Indianapolis Motor Speedway (if coordinated with the Bloomington Gold show in June, folks can pay to take laps at the track)
  • Mecum Auction (if coordinated in May)
  • There are many Private (and public) Car Collections / Museums available to view
  • There are obviously locations and sights associated with both the Indy 500 as well as Automobile Manufacturing (Indiana once had more Automotive Production than the Detroit area)
  • Current Car Manufacturing
  • Louis Chevrolet's grave
  • Griot's Garage event (warehouse and manufacturing here(
  • Wineries
  • Plenty of indoor and outdoor full speed go-carting
  • War Memorials - Indianapolis is 2nd only to Washington DC in Memorials per capita
  • Casinos (as desired - not a scheduled event) - there are two within 15-20 minutes of Indy

Vette(s): 1969 convertible 427/390 5 speed triple black with L-88 hood; 2019 Stingray Coupe, auto, Long Beach Red; 2022 HTC, Hypersonic Gray; 1999 coupe donated to NCM
Here are some of the possibilities for Cincinnati:

Cincinnati Zoo-2nd oldest zoo in US

The American Sign Museum; Cincinnati, Ohio

Hof Brau Haus restaurant; Newport, KY

Newport Aquarium; Newport, KY:  70 exhibits and 14 galleries, including 5 seamless acrylic tunnels totaling over 200 feet in length

BB Riverboat Tour – Ohio River  Cruise, dinner cruise

One or more stops on the KY Bourbon Trail

Wright Patterson Air Force Museum; Dayton, OH

TriState Warbird museum [WWII planes]

Full Throttle Indoor Karting

Kentucky Speedway; Sparta KY [dates to drive the track are limited]

See Dirt track racing at Lawrenceburg Speedway  [sprint cars, midgets or others]

Kentucky Horse Park, Museum

Louisville slugger museum; Louisville, KY

Just a few ideas to think about.  Could be done in combination with Indianapolis.
