As part of the 2023 C3VR Member Gathering we will be spending some time in Jim Thorpe, PA.

On Thursday, 9/28/2023, in the morning, there are three options.

  1. Explore the town by foot on your own until lunch time.
  2. A 70-minute train ride starting at 11am. This thread is about the Train Ride!

The Train ride is run by the Lehigh Gorge Scenic Railway.

Parking 

  • Municipal lot with a cost of $10 for the day.
  • Address for Parking lot: 1 Susquehanna St, Jim Thorpe, PA 18229

It departs at 11am and will last 70 minutes.

  • Standard Coach: $22.00
  • Open Air Car (not sure if this will be available on our trip): $24.00
  • Crown Class Coach: $24.00/adult 
  • Vista Dome Car: $30.00/adult

YOU MUST PURCAHSE YOUR TICKET(S) IN ADVANCE!  I'm told they can sell out, so better to buy ASAP then wait!

To Book your ticket(s):

  1. Click the link below, then scroll down to "September" and click it to show the dates for September
  2. Scroll down to "Thursday, September 28" and click on 11:00 AM
  3. Fill out the form picking the train car type you want (Dome, Crown, etc)

Please reply to this thread if you wish to ride the Train and NOT the trolley!
Indicate the number of ticket you will need!

Hey there.

For those of you that already selected Vista Dome, please note that I just realized that the 5% discount is only for Standard Coach and Open-Air cars only.  So if that changes your mind on which car you want, please let me know.  (Personally, I don't think the $1.50 makes that much of a difference).
