Some have mentioned they don't care so much about sightseeing as groups as much as they do just getting together and hanging out.

I'm wondering what the general consensus is on this.

So, would you rather there be three full days of activities planned, or three days with some group meals planned and the rest open to do whatever you want?

Thanks

Vette(s): had a really nice one. sold it to a good friend. Purchased 2004 custom coupe in Feb. 2009 did not tell anyone here until August 2009. BAD I KNOW.
It seems really simple to my meat head, what if we had tours, road trips planned for the group , with an ending spot be around the or located close to the spot where the group meals are planned to be in.  We could have like last time a sign up sign for trips, tours, and group meals.  That those that want to travel in the pack and such couls and those that do not wont have to but they could join every one for the meals.  Also if the trips were planned out, only have carson city to go off of, where we drive someplace and hour or so, got out and sight seen, shopping for the women folk, and then drove back or to the next locale. I personally really enjoyed (most) of the road trips in C.C. and I know my wife really enjoyed that part of the trip yourself, as well as the group meals, how can I say it, thought you and dave, and everyone else invovled did an outstanding job.  if it rolled last time, why change the tire.

We didn't make the CC trip but did go to the PF gathering. Our best time was spent in front of the Hotel and In the Lobby talking in small groups with new folks.

From that gathering we have done some small group get togethers and really enjoyed them.

Much like at Funfest our best time was spent in the parking lot tent and at the hotels.

I anticipate that CCX will be much the same repeat with a few new faces being met each time.

I think that is why I call this Forum HOME....

Tux,
You didn't exactly answer the question. Are you saying that you're fine with now real formal agenda?

Your right Adam I didn't. Sorry... I liked the activities planned at PF although I didn't attend them all.

I think irregardless people will pick and choose the direction they want to go. (much like we did)

Maybe if the activities involved get together time Like Larry is suggesting that would be a nice way of meeting and greeting more folks.

I would like that...

I would like to have time to stop and actually meet, and speak with some of the members, rather than have something "planned" all the time. I agree with Tux on the most enjoyable part of PF being just sitting around visiting. We didn't do much of the "group" stuff, either, but that is because we are just not that comfortable in large groups...that's just us.

I think, at the very least, there should be a specific activity every day for the members to just get together for a time, and just relax, and mingle. No driving, no games, etc...HAPPY HOUR, so to speak!
There was no way we could have made the Carson City trip, but Mama & I will be attending the Gathering next year, wherever it may be(well, except Winnipeg, Manitoba - Canada). And, I promise we won't hide out this time, either...ya'll skeered us in PF ...remember the "Whack-a-Joel" deal????

So...my thought is to try to have more time for folks to just meet, and tell lies...

I like the idea of activities but not every minute.  Need some down time.  Also, if they were to end close to the home base at a meal time those who did not participate could still be close for the group meals.

I enjoyed the sight seeing trips but was exhausted by the end of the gathering (not that I wouldn't do it again in a heart beat!!!)  My favorite part was the road trips...the actual driving/riding around with a group of Vettes.  I'd be happy with the road trips ending with food, drink and friends!  Maybe some optional tours.

I appreciate these comments and encourage more!  While whatever I (and my help, if I have some) plan may not appeal to everyone, my hope is to strike a balance that will allow all to have a good time no matter what is on the agenda.

I think Carson worked fairly well, we typically had a 8-9am start, and were back by 5ish. Our nights were mostly open to do spontaneous group or individual things.  So, I'll likely shoot to have some road trips in the mix, with group lunches, maybe some scheduled group dinners.  Maybe one night of go-karting if we go to a city that has them!

Oh, and just a word of warning... I may pull rank and pick the city without going through the "pick from these three" voting. Hope that doesn't PO too many people if I do that.

I hope to have some more on the subject for you guys within a few weeks.

Thanks!
