So, I bought a radar detector to use on the trip to PF.

They are illegal in only two states: VA & DC.

I just looked at my planned route again...
80% of my trip will be in VA!

Vette(s): 1972 conv., sunfire yellow, blk interior, blk vinyl and convertible top. Off frame restoration with American Speed 383 stroker engine producing 500hp plus a 200hp NOS system. MSD ignition. Hooker super competition headers with chambered exhaust.

Adam,

Be sure and hide it when you're in Va. It's not only illegal to use it but also illegal to possess it. If I remember correctly the fine was $95.

Better in Belgium : they can confiscade your car !!!!!! The previous owner of my SRT10 who bought the car in the US with radar detector was stopped here in Belgium . He had to employ a layer to recover his car after a week ! Ofcourse without de detector ( the groundplate is still on the door pillar ) , 1500 $ fine and a month no driving license !

Forgot to ask how much he was speeding.....

Perhaps i can go asking the police for the detector , as he is in fact now mine......

Why not just stick to speed limits and use your car for fast stuff on the race track whenever you can.  Saves money and lives.  Another good reason for living where I do.  No speed limits on the open road.
