Garry, we will be in that area sometime around 5:30-6:00pm, if all goes well(earlier, if possible). The "West meets East" group will be going thru there earlier, I believe. We would welcome you to drive in with us, if ya want. P/M me with your phone #, and I'll add it to the list. If you want to join our circus, I'll give you a call when we get to Nashville, and we can take it from there.

I'll be monitoring chan. 19, but...the truckers can get mighty cranky if "common folk, four wheelers" try to horn in on their channels. We normally will go to chan. 14 for caravan communications. As far as I know, I am the only one in our group that will have a CB, but I think Kerry(Reds82CE) may have one, too.Adams' Apple38876.790625

Well......

I went by the shop today.  The vette is in one spot, the engine in another, and the trans in a third.  It ain't gettin' back together this week.

It's just like with construction contractors.....double the time and money they quote you, and you'll be pretty close.

The engine is now an original shade of orange, and the transmission shines like new.  Both look great.  When they start to go back in, I'll post pictures from start to finish.  (I'll start a new line with some history of the car, and pictures to show the progress.)

Now then, if it's getting towards the end of next week, and it's still not back together, it won't be going to PF.  There won't be enough time to break it in before the trip, and I'm not about to drive it there without having done that.

I'll probably know by Wednesday or so what's going to happen.  I turned the car in back in March, thinking that would be enough time.  The bright side is that I've watched everything as it was being done, and I know it's a quality job, done right the first time around.

Keep your fingers crossed!

Oh, oh........bummer.    You better cross your finger real tight.....  I wish ya' luck so you won't miss out on the time of your life!!

Hey, the Freeway is one of the best ways to break in an engine.  In town is not a good place to break the enigine in.....at least that's what a lot of folks around here have told me.  All the stops and starts!

I don't have a CB.  I am also still waiting for my new calipers....not very impressed with Ecklers....doesn't look like I will get them in time to have a corvette shop get them installed before the trip since I want to have those rear bearings replaced while the wheels are off.

TICK TOCK TICK TOCK TICK TOCK!!!!!!
Kery, check with your local AutoZone. They have the sleeved calipers. Or, I should say, they do sell them. Whether or not they have them in stock is a different matter. Wouldn't hurt to check, just in case. You can refuse the shipment from Eklers if you get them locally, and just tell them it took them too long to ship to you. Did you have to send your old ones in first?
Dwain(Longhorn) is trying his darndest to get a CB in his car before we go. 10-4? Adams' Apple38880.7799537037

Man, If only I had kept my CB's over the years....guess I could go to walmart and get one of those that looks like a walkie talkie....are the hand held ones any good???

The Calipers I ordered were the new O-Ring type....couldn't find anyone local who sold the O-Ring type and everyone says they are the best....but, if they don't show up in the next few days then I may break down and have the remanufactured ones installed....really would like these replaced before our trip next thursday...

By the way,,,,,how do you hear anything on the CB when your cruisin down the highway with the tops off?  I have to have the radio cranked up and was wondering how we communicate....I know when my cell phone vibrates, but I never answer it because I can't hear half of what anyone says  ?

Lone Star Calipers is in Canton!!! They are the originators of the o-ring style calipers. They are arguably the best type of set-up, but, you can change the pistons in any caliper to make it an o-ring style. You do not have to have a sleeved caliper, tho it is better, from a longevity standpoint.

We will also have our two-way Motorolas(actually G.E.s ) They have a range of about two miles, which is fine for our purposes. Most any two-ways you can buy now will talk to each other.
I just bought an in-dash AM/FM/CB at a yard sale a couple of weeks ago!!! $2!!! New, in the box!!!! I'll probably stick it in the 'Burban when I get it back on the road, and put the Midland that's in there now in the Cad.

(ever hear of a loudspeaker!! I can hear mine just fine with the teeny factory speaker. )Adams' Apple38881.8123726852

An external speaker is a must for a cb. Available most anywhere that sells cb's

I know the voices aren't real, but they have some pretty cool ideas...

They also have a "hands-free" headset for CBs. Just like for your phone. That way the chatter doesn't bother Mama!!! I used to have one, and it was really cool!
