I'll be rolling through Greenville, SC sometime on Wednesday, the 16th, after visiting my "baby" sister near Brevard, NC. Would like to make the run to Charleston with some folks or time hooking up with some folks anywhere in between. I know there's a couple of characters nearby in Greer, SC - anyone else interested in running in a pack...??? Give me a time and a spot and I'll be there.

Jim,
If I were going on Wednesday I would love to, but we are not leaving Greenville until noon on Thursday. It is always cool to see more than one vette rolling together, but to see two (or more) sharks, that is extra special. Maybe Clint will chime in.
You will have beautiful ride from Brevard to Greenville...over the top of what is called 'Ceasar's Head'. When you are atthe top, take a few minutes to stop at the center and check out the view. We were in Brevard just 3 weeks ago, but for a sad moment. A memoral service for a Corvette friend, Jolene Alms.

Margie and I are planning on spending the night in Asheville, NC on the 15th and would be rolling thru to Charleston on the 16th. We would love to hook up with you all somewhere along the line, too. Just let us know where and what time.

David - my sister has told me about that drive and I do plan on taking it. Her eldest son lives in the Greenville area and I hope to catch lunch with him on Wednesday.

Clint - meeting my nephew in Greenville might make it a little harder to make it to your place to start the run - but I could join the pack at any spot on the loop around the city.
Larry - may I make a suggestion? Instead of overnighting in Asheville, NC look at staying near Maryville, TN or better yet at Deal's Gap Resort. One of the activities at the 2006 Gathering was a drive on "The Tail of the Dragon", probably THE MOST fun twisty road I've ever driven...!!! Maryville isn't far from the bottom of "The Dragon" and Deal's Gap is at the top. From Deal's Gap it is about 3 hours through the Smokies to get to Clint's place and that should be a spectacular drive. I'm planning on overnighting near Knoxville Sunday night and Monday "Riding The Dragon" again (and perhaps more than once!) on my way to my sister's place. "The Dragon" was AWESOME in "The Toy" so I'm REALLY looking forward making the drive - oops! - ride in "The Beast"...!!!

Larry,
Jim is ABSOLUTELY CORRECT about the "Tail of the Dragon". 312 curves in 11 miles (or something like that). I drive the C5 on that road...I was leading a small pack of fiberglass chariots. Just as we started from Deals Gap. I put Iron Butterful's "In the Godda Davita" (SP) and cranked it UP....What a rush.
Clint has been on another one called "The Devil's Staircase" which is real similar to the Dragon, but sadly I have not been on that one...YET!
I am so looking forward to meeting all of you and I am GREEN
with envy for not being able to join this band of merry travlers on a caravan to Charleston.

Everybody give Clint an "attaboy" because he is coming over tonight (with Hunter) to help me get my hood back on. having clint help is much better than a divorce, which may happen if I had my wife help (stop yelling at me just because I scratched your precious hood
)

Walk in peace,
David

Sounds like a great idea. I plan on coming from Nashville, then thru Maryville and hit the Dragon's Tail to Deal's Gap. Then on to Asheville. If we get there early enough, the wife wants to go to see the Biltmore Estate. Sounds like it will be up-hill to Deal's Gap, not quite as much fun as going the other way. Thanks for the idea.

Biltmore Estates is awesome. When you go in through the main doors, look at the screws that hold the hinges on.....they were HAND TURNED! When I am a twisty road, I actually prefer to go uphill. I feel that I have better control of the curves if I can power through them instead of realizing (sometimes) too late that the curve is sharper than I expected and have to brake hard! Watch out for the 'rice rockets', they like to make speed runs and pass on any curve. At least 1-2 people die every year on that road. I have heard that they are tryingto really crack down on the rice rockets. I would not want to meet you for the first time with a rice rocket as your hood ornament!!!!!

you will need a couple of days to see all of Biltmore
