Vette(s): 1965-327 coupe, 1968-small block coupe, 1969-427, 1971-454 coupe and currently a 1976-ZZ4 coupe reborn again,and hotter than ever.. Add a 1996 CE LT-4 for backup

May the gods be with us and there be plenty of service stations along the way..I need 94 octane, can you get that nation wide? I guess I can burn a lesser octane if need be? That will not hurt my engine will it? Anybody..

I'm glad I don't run high octane in mine.  I use 89 all the time and no knocking.   Until the hills come...

You should be fine with that Terry.   Just don't need anymore unless you want to race.

Mike, the engine spec calls for at least 94 octane. Any 2005- ZZ4w/aluminum head owners out there that burn a lesser octane? Do you have any engine overheating problems? I guess I'll burn the highest octane I can find. I hope that will not void the warranty?I think I'll be fine, there are other high octane/high compression engine corvettes that will make the trip and they seem not to worry, so I will not.I'll Focus on the trip, fun and Iron82 way out front of the pack..

Most stations have at least 93 octane. Maybe you want to bring a gallon of acetone.
Sounds like the west coasters are going to have a good caravan.
Now we have to get the others lined up.

Terry,  I'm sure we can find 93 and higher octane while we are driving east.  So don't worry.  If you do, I'm not going to catch your fall.

I have no overheating.  My tempuature stays around 210 and never yet gone over in the hot summer.  Now it's cold temps brewing.  I haven't seen it hit 190 degress.  Must be really cold for my engine not to heat up all the way.  Still runs smooth as I bought it 3 years ago.

I not going to be to far in front of the pack.

Octane ratings will vary some from state to state.  After landing in Seattle stop at a Wal-Mart and grab a few bottles of an octane booster just in case and use as necessary.

That's an idea for Terry.  Just buy like three for one day cruise.  Use only one and a half into the tank for good octane.   Safe the rest for the next tank.

Not to worry.  We'll survive this delima.

I use the Penzoil Octane Boost and it does wonders on 92 Octane fuel. It will all be good with the amount of participants we are going to have we will get you there.
