Just got off the phone with Dave and Nadine Mooney (DaveM). Candi and I are planning to caravan with them to Little Chute in May.

Current tentative plan is for them to start their day in Columbus, OH on Tuesday. They'll take I-70 and meet up with us in or near Indy. We plan to travel I-74 to Bloomington, IL where we'll get on I-39 and head north until we get around Rockford, IL where we'll stay for the night. On Wednesday, we'll complete the trip to Little Chute.

We would enjoy having anyone who is interested and has a similar travel path to join up with us anywhere along the way. Don't have any specific times when we'll be at what points yet, but we will define and post those as we get closer.

ARE WE THERE YET?!?!?

If from Rockford you continue on I-39 to Madison, then take 151 northeast toward Appleton I could meet you about 30 miles northeast of Madison at Columbus.  Exit 118.

I'll be staying at the Stay Inn in Lombard, IL.  Depending on when you folks leave Rockford, IL, I can meet up with you then.  They're about 90 minutes apart.   I was going to head up 94 to 43 to 45 but I can head west a little earlier, I'm easy.

You know, I remember listening to my grandparents and granduncles talking about heading to Fl.  This had to be back in the late 60's early 70's..."We get on the 17 the hit 15 down to the 81..."  I would think WTF (what the fart, I was 8) are they talking about?

Dean and Dave, that sounds like a plan and I'll get with you on details as we get closer
Any other takers?

I'm not sure of my timing yet, except I plan to be at the hotel on Wednesday evening sometime.
From my house to the hotel is 811 miles via I-90 to I-94 to I-894 to US 45 N to US 41 N to WI 441 N to Little Chute and Appleton.

Is 894 a by-pass around Chicago?

If I leave Tuesday after work and drive to Toledo, I should be at the hotel in time for din-din.

Hey Dave, I was using roadtrippers and I have 90 to 94 to 294 around Chicago. I'm staying in Lombard, then meeting up with the others in Rockford.  Or not, I can always be persuaded to take a different route.

Dick Countryman suggested a slick ring-around Chi-town but you need an I-Pass thing-a-ma-jig to make it worthwhile.  I don't remember the freeway number (I-355 maybe?) so maye he can jog some memory cells.  You stay on I-80 west and then connect north on this freeway that ends up taking you around the west side of O'Hara.  We came through on the Sunday night of Memorial Day weekend in 2012 and it was the most hassle free ride I've ever had through that area.

Vette(s): 1982 Black, ZZ4, Hooker Side Pipes, 3.55 Rear, Rebuilt & upgraded 700R4, All new suspension, brakes, & new Charcoal interior.

Marshall, we will be leaving Columbus on Tuesday morning about 7:30, should get to Indy about 10:30. You need to give me a meeting place, I'll be coming in on I-70 and we will be getting on I-74 west to go to I-39.

I saw that there are a lot of hotels right off I-39 in Rockford at Rt. 20 (E. State St.) so I think that would be a good place for Tuesday night. Then Wed. morning we could head up I-39 north and pick up Dean like he mentioned. I think Dick & Jill will meet us when we leave Rockford since they live right near there.

Dean, do you know how long it takes to get from Rockford to where we would meet you? That way we can figure what time to meet you.

I'll PM Dick so he knows about it.

Anyone wanting to join us, let us know your plans and we can work it all into a seamless schedule.....LOL.

Dave

Margie and I will be taking somewhat the same route, except from Des Moines, Ia.  We take I-80, I-380 then 151 on thru Dubuque and Madison.  We'll probably be a couple hours behind you guys as we have about 300 miles to Madison.  Never know, might see ya'll along the way   ARE WE THERE YET??   Big smile

Dave.....I'm-a-thinkin that exit in Columbus, WI (WI 60 and US 151) is about 1 1/2 hours North of Rockford.  I would love to meet you, Marshall, Dick and Larry (if he drives a little faster) there.  The advantage for you and Marshall to come a little farther West to Rockford is you miss all of that Chicago and Milwaukee traffic.
