I am really excited about the upcoming Annual member gathering to take place in just over ONE MONTH in Mystic, CT!!
I would like to again thank all of those that have taken time to organize lodging, dining and events for this gathering. Everything looks great!
However, I am surprised at the (so far) seemingly low registration numbers. Overall, we're at just 12 members signed up. Granted, we'll have well over 20 with spouses and kids, but still - 12?
Looking back at the poll that was taken last year, 50 - FIFTY members voted to have the gathering in the New England area. I can understand that the economy has hit many hard, but that means that less than 75% of those that voted to have the event in this area are not signed up!
I am disapointed.
I'm excited that I will get the chance to meet many of those who are signed up in person. I've met some really great people at previous gatherings (Mid America Fun Fest, Midwest Regional Gatherings, last year's gathering in Hot Springs, etc), and I look forward to meeting more. I just expected that more people would attend this gathering.
I know things change and this year, more than others.
I hope that if you live in the area and can make it to at least a dinner, a lunch or some other event, you will - I look forward to meeting you! If you can't make it, we'll get pictures out there to share.
The 2010 gathering is slated to be in "the West." It's not too early to start thinking now about where you would like to see it (I know I have some ideas). When voting time comes around, please consider carefully.
Thanks for letting me vent.
I wanted a Corvette my whole life, but I never dreamed of all the wonderful people I would meet because of it!

Vette(s): 1972 conv, 4-speed, 350, 200hp, numbers match, rally wheels, war bonnett yellow w/white top. good condition, nice driver.

Unfortunately my recent unemployment put an end to this trip (and other things)
I sure hope more sign up also. There are a lot of members in the Northeast, I'm surprised at the low turn out. I know we will have a great time regardless of the numbers.

Hey fellers!
I'm hoping to go,,,,I'm planning to go.
I've been sick during this last year & now the doctor says it's M.S. No meds yet & we're hoping it goes in to remission again.
I'll keep up the good atitude & you all keep up with the prayers. That way I'll see you there!
I'm hoping too that a few more members will want to jump in as this event draws closer.

Kevin
I would love to come but that Kokomo trip dang near killed me

That was the longest 4 or 5 hours I have ever driven home.

People of the northeast, you must sign up and go or Marshal will start coming to your houses

Have fun gang and take pic.s

Now Dats wat I'm talkin bout.........
Like Dave M said we will have a great time reguardless.
It's not the quantity, it's the quality.
I have already met most of the folks coming and they are all down to earth good people.
I know many wanted to come this year, but they now have higher priorities.
If I didn't get a job at Wally World, I may not have been able to attend, so I know things are tough this year.
Stay strong and we WILL have better days ahead.

I too am extremely surprised and disappointed that so few have signed up to attend. I sent out a last ditch attempt to drum up some more attendees a week or two ago by sending an email to all, but not a single person signed up after that email.
I don't know if it is the location, time of year or economy that is the problem. Perhaps some combination.
I know all the past gatherings have been nothing short of a great time, and I think most if not all in attendance feel the same way! (Who can forget the 30 people under one 10x10 in the rain!)
Maybe we'll have some last-minute signups.
Either way, we'll have a great time. But it would be nice to see larger numbers.
I think last year we had about 70 people.
I guess we'll see what happens....
See ya in a month!

I don't know Adam, the economy, the many many choices of things to do every weekend, the thought of driving that distance in a C3. , who knows.

I went to a Bluegrass festival this past weekend that is always standing room only. You normally have to get there about a week in advance just to get a camping spot, and this is in a 40 acre camp ground. I took mine down Monday , 4 days befor the event and left it, satisfied that I had secured my spot and sure that when I went back it would be packed. When I went back three spots around mine were open and the attendance was nothing. I doubt there was a thousand people there.
I would write this one off to the economy.
People are struggling , just to break even in some cases , if that.
I personally would love to come to the gathering as I have never seen that country and we dearly love the people we have met in the group, but as I stated before earlier in the thread, it just doesn't work for us this year. (I am in physical therapy three times a week now, and due to my injuries , there is no way I could travel that far)
I encourage anyone that has never been to one of these events to go. these are awesome people to meet and fun just to be around in general. 5 minutes into it and it is as if you have known them your whole life.
Any time the dates work out for us, we will be there !! (if I remember)
