Vette(s): had a really nice one. sold it to a good friend. Purchased 2004 custom coupe in Feb. 2009 did not tell anyone here until August 2009. BAD I KNOW.

I am having to drop out of this trip.  It was a very tough decission to make, but there are so many forces that are making this more expensive and timing issues with family finacial plans, the wife and I have a deal to get debt free ASAP, and I sort of jumped into this with out really knowing or looking at what it would do to that plan.  Then there is the issue of finding and affording trusting, compentent care for our daughter. that I can not, with a good heart, make this trip so far away from her. We are also in the middle of trying to start a business for our daughter that will get her out of the house and her wheel chair at the very least two to three days a week for three to four hours a day. Also the same week is a conference that my wife has wanted to attend for the past three years, and I don't feel right in having her miss it so I can do something for me, that I can do at a later date, She did give in so I have to vette  it shouldn't be all about me, she is a wonderful partner that I need to place her first.  Bottom line is I figure the cost for this trip would be in the neighborhood of around $5,000.00 for the 3 days of the actual gathering.  I am truly sorry if I have let any one of you down or to think ill of me, but I am a lifetime member that isn't going anywhere and hopefully this site isn't either and I will have many more opportunities to travel in my vette with my partner without the bruden of debt, care for our daughter.  If any one would like more personal detailed reasons please PM me and I will try to answer all your questions.  I have not cancelled room yet, will do that shortly (have king non smoking)  I really did just leap with out looking to see if there was any water in the pool, will be with you in spirit only this trip.

Welcome to the "Jump first - look later " club , Some people are born with a silver spoon in their mouth, - Me - I got this foot (and  leg) constantly stuck in my mouth. Hey - family and personal issues should always come first. No explainations necessary . I'm sure there will be many pictures taken and at least one Toast to you .

Vette(s): 1979, 350sb, as my kids affectionately call it "shit brown" Corvette purchased in 1996. 84,000+ miles. Not a show car, but I love her just the same.

Hmmm, Larry, getting debt free, caring for your daughter, loving your wife and wanting only the best for all of them...not bad choices when it comes right down to things!

Don't apologize!  I probably won't make this trip either because of at least the getting debt-free reason, but all I can hope is that like you, being a Lifetime member, there will hopefully be plenty more opportunities to join this group in a get-together in years to come!

Also like you, the wife said "you deserve a Vette", and for that she is the most special person in my life...well, not JUST for that!  But you know what I mean.

I hope soon, we can both meet at one of these fantastic gatherings and share a round at the bar!

Larry, it's gotta be a real bummer, but.....first things first. Your family has to come first in every aspect. That's way more important than anything else in life.
Don't even think that you are letting C3VR down. You are simply doing what you're supposed to be doing, taking care of the family.
Best of luck to ya on your finacial troubles, and the best of wishes for you and your family.

Larry you never have to apologize about taking care of whats most important.  There is only one family but there will be plenty of vette gatherings.

I just became a member this year and am hoping that in the next few years my wife and I can make one of the yearly gatherings.

Larry,

Gonna miss sharing LT-1 stories with you but ... you're absolutely doing the right thing by your family. With a mother-in-law in assisted living nearby and a handicapped sister-in-law in a group home in FL, I know where you're coming from. "Ya just gotta do what ya gotta do"!! As we fans of "losing" sports teams always say - "Wait 'til Next Year"!! I'm sure we'll see you at one of these events somewhere down the road. Oh Yeah - "Drive 'Em If Ya Got "Em"!!

Sorry to hear your dropping out . But family first! no matter what. I did not want to spend the money at first either, but Julia has been after me to go see her sister in Tennessee with the kids. So I decided to make it a family vacation and take 3 weeks. We will miss you on this trip but certainly be thinking of you and your family. Maybe we can hook up at a local car show this summer.

Damn Larry, your not going???  I only have one thing to say about that.......................Your a great guy to look out for your families concerns before your own  Family First

And, theres never a need to apologize at all for looking out for family matters.  I've only known you for awhile now, and from what I can tell you've got a great family there.  For those of you who don't know Larry, yet, man what a guy  You should have seen the spread he put out at his house for our Northwest C3VR BBQ this summer for about 30 or so people, most of all he had never met.

I'm also hoping I don't join this thread with bad news.  I'm still not positive I can make it, but I'm doing everything I can to attend  The best thing I've got going for me is that my Brother-in-law lives in Memphis and my wife hasn't been able to visit him in over 6 years
