As with most things around here, I could use help planning the 2008 gathering. Once a date/location is picked, I'd love some volunteers to help with the planning. Here is what I'm thinking. We'd have a separation of duties:
Lodging planners: Research nearby lodging options.
Event planners: Research local and nearby sites, attractions and activities that we could attend as a group.
Dining planners: Once the Event planners have come up with a list of events, would need to research eateries near the event locations/destinations.
This research would likely involved mostly online research, but you may have to make phone calls too, especially to hotels, because you get a better rate when you talk directly with the hotel manager.
If any of these sound fun to you, or is just something you wouldn't mind helping with, please reply to this thread to claim your responsibility. I'd say we need at least two people for each. You'd have to work with each other to make sure you are not duplicating each other's efforts.
PLEASE DON'T START any research until dates/location and responsibilities have been determined.
Thanks gang!

Seems the folks in the area would be a good source of info/help with this. Ya'll don't be shy!! Jump on in and grab a'hold!
Iffin no-one else steps up, I might be able to research the dinning choices. How hard can it be to find a Micky-Dee's?
(just kiddin)
A general idea of what folks would be interested in, food-wise, might help. Perhaps a poll in another thread, tho...?

To be honest... you can't put to much out to a vote or things never get done. You just have to stick with what is usually ok with most people. If they don't enjoy the type of food a particular restaurant, they don't have to attend. But I put Mexican on the schedule in Carson and we had a good turn out and everyone seemed to enjoy it.

Who's working on events?
I want some good regional red neck fun.
Being a born and bred Yankee, I'm not sure what that might entail.
Any of the Arkies know what kind of trouble we can get into?
Will Bill and Hillary be coming to our event?

And a husky voice saying..."Skweel...skweel like a pig!!!"
Regional redneck fun???? That mostly involves guns...and dogs...and beer. Not necessarily in that order...
"If yer family tree only has ONE branch..."
I'mma thinking the Corvette show will take up most of the day, for those that go to it. Then there's the go-karts. And a run in the country. Might even find a swimmin hole tuh go skinny-dippin in...
