Check in please.
Our's was fairly smooth sailing exception of the wiper blades locking together. I guess I better do another adjustment.
The new GPS unit really helped out going home. It suggested a couple deviations from the normal route, which shaved of about 20 minutes of travel time.

No problems for any of us...smooth sailing, for the most part, unless ya want to count the idjits in da Ford pick-em-ups that thought they were better than anyone else(Eh, Kerry?

Mick(Greypoupon69) and David decided to make it a two-day drive back.
We really enjoyed the "Gathering" in Vegas in the Smokies!!!

I made it home last night about 8:30p. It was almost a 12 hour trip (stops included). It rained most of the way. Some rain was so bad I decided to pull off the highway for a bit. The PA turnpike was a mess. Lots of standing water...visibility was awful. Oh, not to mention the water that dripped into my car from various places.

Glad to have made it home safely.
Thanks to Roger (Rogue Wave) for joining me for most of the trip down and 1/2 the trip home.

My first Vette, now owned by JB79:

Hi Everyone!
Well my Vette had a bad float in the carb. so with a carb kit, new float, Dr. Ken performed the surgery, and it ran great all the way home....I made it a two day trip back, and the Vette purred all the way...had a little rain in Georgia, a lot of accidents on I75, but this morning smooth sailing, and a little overcast, but a wonderful trip, can't wait till next year! Love and Miss all of YOU!

Rain started near VA/WV/MD/PA borders and didn't stop till Cortland, NY.
Took I81N all the way to Syracuse and then I90W back to Victor because I didn't want to be on anymore narrow, winding, hilly roads for at least a month

Sarge- My wipers locked up too! Stopped and untangled them and they were fine again.
Rained so hard at times I got a few drips on the driver's seat.

Got home at 9PM and downloaded my pics.
I'll upload some of the better ones ASAP.
Calculated my MPG and it ranged from 17.32 on Saturday (Tail of the Dragon day) to 28.6 yesterday (cruise set to 72mph, burning 89 octane). Total average for 1695 miles was 22.87mpg. $225 for gas. Not bad for all the fun.
After yesterday's ordeal, I'm definitely up for a drive to the west coast next year

Rain...
After cruisin' to Staunton with L82vette77, we peeled off on I64E and it got ugly quick. It rained so hard that my car was swimming around on the road until I slowed down to about 45-50. The Blue Ridge was the worst and Fog so thick you could hardly see the car in front of you.
Left at 0400 like L82vette77 said and got home about 1300.
Now to get my suspension down to a normal level and I'm going to replace my Master Cylinder tonight so I don't have problems like L82 did. Mine fade pretty quick so..just in case....
Still gotta work on that ZZ4 and new tranny....I wonder if diamond ear rings would convince the wife...

The trip back was pretty good most of the way.
Adam and I traveled together for just over half the trip back. Outside of Harrisonburg had some stopped traffic for a median accident. About 8 miles before our parting and my turnoff onto I-66 the heavy rains started falling. And I do mean HEAVY, white knuckle 25 mph heavy.
Two miles onto I-66 and it stopped. Looking back over my shoulder I felt for Adam as from the line of dark clouds it looked like he would be in rain for a long long time.
Cloudy from there to DC. Had some light rain thru Baltimore. The sun was shinning once I started into New Jersey and for the final 1.5 hours to home.
