Sounds like most everything went well except for the rain. Wish we could have made it. My wife and I headed west in the Honda to Albuquerque to see the newlyweds, (my son and wife), and took them a car full of kitchen stuff, etc.. Helped my son build a work bench with the help of a few Miller Lites and for the life of me, I don't understand how we made so many miscalculations and miscuts.  Speaking of Miller Lite, they had 36 packs for $15.95 on the Base! YUP, I brung a few home. Dropped off the Vette in Ft. Worth on the way to get the A/C fixed, after a warning ticket from a friendly Texas State Trooper. The ole " Gee, officer. My speedometer calibration must be off. I had no idea I was going that fast", worked again!  Good visit. Left Albuquerque at 6 AM this morning, picked up the Vette in FW and got home about 8 PM. BEAT!

Glad everyone had a good time and made it home safely.  I'll be looking forward to the pictures.

Well, made it back with "No Problemo's".........no one cut me off either!  I let a couple of Trucker's in that wanted to get by the traveling RV's going really slow.  Got into a traffic jam just over the border into Arkansas.  Stuck in that for 30 minutes.  Passed a lot of cops.  The old Gold Thang ran good and didn't burn any oil and she didn't overheat.  Got pretty good gas mileage too (about 18 MTG).  No new "chips" and didn't run over anything.  EEEEWWWWW.......saw a lot of "road kill."

A real plus, Rosie didn't puke in the C5 on the way home.

I ended up leaving PF much later than originally planned but that did give me the opportunity to have breakfast with my sister Ingrid, "Dr." Ken, Theresa, (stingray)Jim and Jim Jr. and witness some of the "procedure" performed by "Dr." Ken on Theresa's ailing Vette in the Comfort Inn's parking lot.

I think I was finally on the road by just after noon on Sunday along with most of the folks who were coming into PF on Friday afternoon!  Either that or the churches were just letting out as it seemed to take forever to get to I-40/81 - from the Comfort Inn.  Drove through occasional light rain until getting into the hills of Kentucky when the heavens REALLY opened.  Spent a couple of hours under bridges napping when the rain was just too thick to see through.  The second bridge stop was like a remake of the tent Friday night at the cookout as cars were stacked three abreast and three deep...!!!  After it lightened up considerably I started rolling again and was in and out of rain up through Cinncinati and then again through Indianapolis.  I finally called it quits around 9 o'clock Sunday night in Champaign, IL.

On the road again this morning at 7 o'clock and again drove in and out of rain until well into Wisconsin before the sun came out for the rest of the trip.  As I approached the Twin Cities I was fearing that my timing was a bit off and that I'd get caught in heavy traffic across the entire metro area (coming in from the east and having to go to the western suburbs).  But the "traffic gods" were kind to me and I only encountered a slight backup on the eastern side of downtown Minneapolis.  Plus "they" allowed me to get far enough west of the city before creating a mess with an accident closer in to downtown.

I pulled into the driveway at "The Ranch" about 4:45 PM and Bailey (our Golden Retriever) supervised the unloading of "The Toy" and emptying "The SilverBuckboard" of all the tools, luggage, and other stuff drug along on the trek.  And after dinner guess what - IT RAINED SOME MORE...!!!

Thanks to everyone who made the trek to PF, the well wishes for the travellers from those who could not make it this year, and to all who made this year's gathering the best yet...!!!  This one will be tough to beat!

I made it home with out loosing a belt! Went half way, stayed in Staunton VA. Got there in time to miss the real bad rain. Monday's ride was not bad, only a few showers. Saw lots of MG's heading north on I81 and a lot that we stuck on the side of the road.

I want to thank JimG and Sarge81 for the help they gave me getting my alternator belt replaced. You guys are great

I had a great time, enjoyed the cars and the people.

Thanks,

Dave
I left the cabin at 7AM, stopped every 2-3 hours to either fill-up the tank or empty the bladder.
Rain started near VA/WV/MD/PA borders and didn't stop till Cortland, NY.
Took I81N all the way to Syracuse and then I90W back to Victor because I didn't want to be on anymore narrow, winding, hilly roads for at least a month

Sarge- My wipers locked up too! Stopped and untangled them and they were fine again.

Rained so hard at times I got a few drips on the driver's seat. Have to take a look at my T-top seals.

Got home at 9PM and downloaded my pics.
I'll upload some of the better ones ASAP.

Calculated my MPG and it ranged from 17.32 on Saturday (Tail of the Dragon day) to 28.6 yesterday (cruise set to 72mph, burning 89 octane). Total average for 1695 miles was 22.87mpg. $225 for gas. Not bad for all the fun.

After yesterday's ordeal, I'm definitely up for a drive to the west coast next year Sign me up!
Wow that's not bad, 2 years ago I spent 150.00 to go to Carlisle & back, 320 miles total  plus I nearly ignited from the heat.

I stayed over Sunday and left Monday. The largest expense for my trip home was probably airplane depreciation portion of my ticket. Did have a little drama in the Knoxville (Tyson) Airport. There was a 90 minute delay because Newark airport was shut down for a while. During the wait, there was a man in a wheel chair at Knoxville. He apparently ran out of his Ritalin and Valium perscriptions, and substituted with a few bloody mary's as he told the police. He was soooo loud you could hear every word he said from 100 feet away. He was trying to talk to everyone and rammed half the people he tried to talk to with his wheel chair. He was sharing all kinds of personal information that nobody wanted to hear. He was almost banned from the airplane. Just when I thought it was safe - a frequent flier, with a ga-zillion miles, started screaming at the pilot during boarding. He was trying to get the wheel chair man kicked off the plane. At this point it was tough to figure out who was more scary. Finally everyone calmed down, got on the plane and we all made it back to Newark.

Vette(s): 1975 C3 Red, T-Tops, Black Interior. All I need is time and money! Getting there!

On the way to PF it rained quite a bit.  With the pieces not on the car, and the t-tops not quite snug, it dripped in the car a LOT.  When I hit thunderstorm I didn't know if I was driving or doing the backstroke.  I had a solid drip, almost a stream, from my steering wheel!

Through the magic of duct tape on the t-tops, nothing came in during the over 200 miles of rain on the way home.  I didn't leave until about 1 PM, and got home at 9:50.  Slightly better time than on the way down.  Of course I was pushing 80 a good part of the time, even in the rain.  No problems.
