I have started to look at my route from Victor, NY to Bend, OR.
If I take the suggested route, it will be I80 and 2600 miles.

That doesn't sound like fun.
I'm looking at an alternate route that hits Cleveland, Akron, Columbus, Indianapolis, Terre Haute, St. Louis, Springfield, Joplin, Tulsa, Ok. City, Amarillo, Albuquerque, Winslow, Flagstaff, Phoenix, LA, Stockton (visit my sis), Sacramento, Redding, Mt. Shasta and Bend.
That will be 3612 miles, without side trips.
I am looking for things to see along the way.
And places to stay.
I will have my tent and sleeping bag, so I can crash anywhere.
I plan on leaving Victor the last week in June, arriving in Bend on July 14th.
I need to be back in Victor by July 23, so it will be a quick, direct trip back.
Ideas and suggestions welcomed.

Sounds like you'll be covering a lot of Route 66 ground Dave. Plenty to see along "The Mother Road" if you're interested in that sort of thing
I wanted a Corvette my whole life, but I never dreamed of all the wonderful people I would meet because of it!

Hey Dave, that's one heck of a trip! If you have never seen the Grand Cayon, you should not miss it, go thru northern Arizona and see it, great hiking also. The Hoover Dam is great also. There are tons of things to see out there. I wish I was going with you, you better stock up on memory cards for your camera

Hey Dave! Ya gonna come up this way before heading to Bend? That sail boat ride is still waiting for you! Can't guarantee wind like we had on Lake Tahoe, though! Can guarantee good food and drink!
