This will start the Great Northwest Corvette Caravan thread heading to the 2008 C3VR Gathering in Hot Springs Arkansas. OK ladies and Gents we did real good, had a blast on the trip to Carson City.
Now we separate the meak from the longhaulers..I have sent an email and talked to some of you already, we have a start of a trip that will go down in history, my guess is a 3 day trip down and a small funding of the USA economy. I m concerned about fuel prices and Bed Bugs?
So far about 6 for the road and several may fly, I will work the emails to enlist members and I understand its early yet. I'm always early, just like to be ready..Chime in when you get a chance, working on the direction and overnight locations and best possible place for hook ups as we motor in the South East direction. This one will be early in the year so plan now..Terry

Terry,
Will the freighters be able to get thru the ice bergs in early April?
Where are you going to cross the Rockies?
Can you drag some So Cal members along with ya?
Will ya be driving the '96?
Do you have room for shorts and a parka?
So many questions, so many decisions.
Time is ticking...... AREWETHEREYET????

Vette(s): 1976 L48 4-spd, Mahogany Metalic exterior, Buckskin interior 350ci/350hp, 3rd owner, fiberglass spring, 255/50-16's Torq-Thrust II
If I am going to drive my 76, then I am sure Terry will do the right thing and drive his too
. Swinging through CA would be good for collecting more vettes but driving I5 through the central valley
, boring! But I would do it for the cause!
Now, if I can just figure out where I put that darn motor.

I m looking to make contact with more West or MidWest Corvettes that are planning to drive to the C3VR 2008 Gathering in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Like, Idaho, Oregon, we have one already from Oregon would like more, Northern California. Nevada, Utah, Colorado and so on. The Northwest Corvette Caravan would like to set up hook up points and times? Maybe Wyoming Corvettes would like to join in? I m not sure but the Northern route across the USA is probably out of the question? Please send me a PM so I can get you on an Email list and lets work this out..

Based on the time of the year you should plan on having several alternate routes mapped out. Crossing the middle or northern Rockies that time of year will be an adventure to be sure.
Early last May there was still enough snow to ski on at some of the resorts we passed along I-70 through central Colorado. And on the way to CC in June we drove through a snow squall crossing over the Beartooth Pass on the Montana/Wyoming border going into Yellowstone.
Just keep an eye on the weather maps while your enroute.
Thanks Jim, not gonna chance it, will watch the weather on my GPS, and maybe drop down to I-10 and Blast through the fastest state in the Union, if I leave early enough could catch up and pass the Caravan from Dalllas..
..No snow or Hail for this Corvetter..Still gathering members for the NorthWest Corvette Caravan, I think it will come together, to early yet, some will join some will drop out..Lets wait and see..Terry

OK...we're thinking about driving now. Mikey put in his vacation bid for the week of April 14 and thinks he can bid around the first part of the next week.
I lived in CSprings for 6 years and am a little considered about those mountains in April. So, if we had to go a southern route, how much time would that add on to the trip? Of course, there is the possibility that we decide to proceed through the mountains further north and then get stuck in a storm! We had one car damaged in a Colorado hail storm...not pretty! Looked like someone used a hammer all over the car!
Here's an interesting tid bit from worldatlas.com:
Colorado lays claim to over 300 days of annual sunshine statewide, and to more than 300 inches of snow in the mountains on a yearly basis. In fact, it snows somewhere in Colorado every month of the year.

We all have too put our heads together and come up with what we want to do? No hail on my car, I'll drive down I-5 and connect to I-40 then head east? That will cost more time, the long way to Arkansas..Lets wait for more people to sign on with the Caravan before we set a route..It will be nice to travel with you Mike and Karen.. Who's next..Terry
