Now that the 2016 Member Gathering is behind us, it's time to get suggestions for our 2017 location!

According to our 3-region rotation schedule, we need to pick a location in the Mid-US region.  Here is a link to a map of the 3 regions that shows all past locations.

Add your suggestion by replying to this thread.  If you can, suggest a time of year to visit too.

At the end of August, i'll compile a list of the suggestions and put together a voting poll to choose the location.

I'm going to start things off with my suggestion: Austin, TX.

Kansas City, KS.

It is centrally located, has lots of interesting things to see and do.

Mid July would be ideal.

Cool music scene (and Joel's)in Austin.

Great BBQ, sports, cars and planes in and around KC.

I'm gonna suggest New Orleans.  Bourbon Street, 'nuff said.  I just get the biggest grin when I think of Sarge and I getting hammered on Bourbon St...how much do we save up for bail money?

South Dakota?  Black Hills (just have to stay away from main Sturgis time) or Bad Lands areas?  Although my wife is going for the New Orleans option, too!

Censored  Angry

Dat's  big negatory on the "Applefest"....there will be NO festivities of any kind at my house...I have neighbors....and I KNOW youse guys....LOL

But sure....ya'll git yer passports updated, and come on down to Texas...in August. Weather will be great! Wink  We could time it to coincide with the Texas Heat Wave car show, where one of the most popular games is guessing who is gunna pass out from heat stroke first, who's car will sink the farthest into the asphalt by noon, and how many 3rd degree burns can be had from touching one vehicle. Come on down....it'll be FUN!!!

Anything that is planned for most areas of Texas would have to be in June/July, or late May, or it's just gunna be too damn hot.

 Biloxi, Ms....settled in 1699

Beautiful beaches, 62 miles of scenic shoreline, tons of great places to eat (and drink), fresh seafood, casinos... Close to Gulfport. Sure to be some good rides just north in De Soto National Forest through several small towns...etc...beaches.. beaches! Fishing, charter boats, fishing party boats, shrimp boat tours...really no shortage of thing to do! Best time to go would be after spring break and before school's out...around first of May...could go later, just more crowded and starting to heat up!

I second South Dakota.

Deadwood is an historic town with lots of charm.   Nearby are two fantastic roads, "Needles Highway" and "Iron Mountain Road".  The town of Spearfish has Spearfish Canyon with breathtaking scenery on that route also.

Anywhere than north.  A lot of the Gatherings in the past few years have been north.....not fair.  I need to meet new people in the group and see old friends in the group.  It's been too long!  So all you Northerner's could meet in the middle or come south.

It's your normal "touristy" venue.  Traffic is a real challenge on the one lane main drag thru town.

I would love to plan to go to the 2017 gathering, but with no a/c (and know I'm not the only one) July is out for that kind of travel for me. Mid to late May would be much better. Kansas City, KS sounds good.

Branson is a tourist town, but only Hwy 76 on the strip is bad. Generally, with the alternative routes you can get around everywhere with little trouble, but there will be traffic. I plan one trip a year for our Corvette Club (National Park Corvette Club in Hot Springs, AR) and we have little issue getting around.

The big draw for Branson is: shows, venues, food, shopping and great places to cruise in your Vette. Since it is a tourist based town, there is more to do there than most places! Lastly, its not just a country music place anymore. NPCC is going in October and we are seeing Peter Noone of Herman's Hermits with BJ Thomas and the Liverpool Legends a Beatles tribute band.

That's my thoughts,
John
