Topic: Rate the 2006 Gathering
in Forum: Annual C3VR Member Gathering

We are rating the C3VR Gathering a "9" and altho this was our first we plan on going to as many as we can. I agree with Misty Runner about the time of year-late Spring (May) or early fall (September/early October). As to the communication part I think that the "event committee" volunteers will be able to handle that because there will be more people involved and the work can be spread around, instead of all of us depending on a couple of peopleto do the majority of the work. I know the more all of us get involved in brainstorming, planning and executing the activities the better it will be and if we need advice we have the means to ask. In my opinion the "Tail of the Dragon" was the highlight of the entire event and worth the traffic and the rain.
I give the Event an 8.
Suggestions:
Gotta have Member Car Show.
Bump everything up few notches.....better Hotel, food and location. PF had a lot to offer, central location, things to do, but definitely not upscale resort. Probably everyone would like to make the event something really special...in a special location.
For a car event put together so that people all over the country can meet up, it went quite well. I enjoyed it tremendously.
For all of the suggestions on the thread, remember somebody has to do the leg work and make this all come together for a weekend - I know from volunteering in past car shows. We need the Event Coordinator position and a trusty staff to make it happen.
I think some people from the East coast (myself? ) would fly into the West for next years event...so it would be hard to participate in "car" things, we would need some "non car " things to do also...such as auto museum - horseback suggestions we had.
I've attended quite a few car events in my time, this one was great meeting people I've talked to but never seen ( the BEST part!! ) - it was quite different, thanks for the great Gathering....
Thursday night we arrived at the Comfort Inn. Stingrayjim and Jim Jr. had the grill fired up and fed us. Thank you kindly for the meal guy's! And we met some of the other members there.
Thurs. night I rate a 10
Friday JimG and Jim Jr. (Stingrayjim's son) & myself got Richard's brakes fixed. That was actually rewarding. Did the Muscle car museum later on. Then the cook out at the Holiday Inn. The rain was a major bite (nobodys fault). But it was all in all a good time. Food and beer was great!
Fri. I rate an 8
Sat. Breakfast at Holiday Inn was ok. Member meeting was good. Tail of the Dragon was awesome. Dinner was disappointing and I blame that solely on the restaurant. No salad or desert offered. Definitely not worth the money. Parking there was a issue too. JimG and myself fixed a alternator belt for Dave. That was cool to help out another member again. I was actually to pooped and sweating my butt off to do carts. So I went back to the Comfort Inn, showered and indulged in a few cold beverages.
Sat. I rate an 7.
Trying to get though the traffic was the biggest pain I thought.
Our suite at the Comfort Inn was awesome. And priced right. Thanks Jim!
For the future, maybe plan a extra day in for next years meeting. A couple days is to short for me. 3-4 would allow more time to lay things out instead of cramming everything together in a short time.
I'm sorry I didn't get to meet everyone. It was kind of difficult due to time and rain.

I'd rate the comraderie, help and enthusiasm an 11+.
Friday nites BBQ, who cared about the rain, was an 11+
The breakfast buffet, eh, the meeting pretty good.
Tail of the Dragon and the spirited after run were another 11+
Pops was a -5. I don't blame anyone for that. I do agree I would be willing to pay more for better food. (I guess it's just my occupation) By the way the food at the BBQ was great--I know it was simple food but it must have been the cooks or the atmosphere was just great.
I'm trying to figure out how to go to the West coast next year. If I make it I'll be flying and renting a vette for the occasion. I'd be willing to help cook also..

I have never made it to something like this before. Of course the traffic was a pain. Could not be helped. As far as upscale, I don't think that necessary. Those of us on a budget may not have been able to make it if it got too pricey. I missed thursday, and arrived as the cook out was starting on Friday. Dispite the rain, I enjoyed that.
Saturday meeting went well. Then the tail of the dragon. That was a winner. By chance my sister and her boyfriend rented a cabin at PF, and I stayed with them on Saturday night. My Saturday dinner was great! (Sis is a good cook). Then I fell asleep in the chair. ( I needed that).
Sunday morning several of us got together for breakfast. Very good. But after chow, it was brought to my attention MistyRunner's car was running poorly. A quick check found a bad carb float. It was trying to flood it'self. Back to the hotel, got the info from the car. Stingray Jim provided transportation to pick up the carb kit and float, and I healed it in the parking lot. I was very happy to help. It slowed me down a lot getting on the road, but I made it home without incident, and still got dinner and a shower before bed.
So I rate it a 10. Could it be better? Anything can. But I had a great time, and spent time with great people all enjoying great cars, and one going to be great car (mine). I thank everyone.
For a rate. My lady would not rate anything that has to do with family. Yes. Rating anything that people have fun and most of all great company is always a 10. NO matter how BAD it gets!! As Ken has put it. There's always ways to make things better. That is why we all fall down and then pick our selves up. We as a family will try harder and maybe we will find to better our selves.
I enjoyed myself but would of been more with my wife.
And to note. My lady picked the winners because she wanted to do that herself. We appologize about how it went.
What's to appologize for? Everthing was fine.

Dave's '82

I have attended the 2004 and 2005 Extravaganza. I though was very good event but i rate the gathering a 10.

I'm gonna rate it an 8. Not because there was anything wrong but as Dave said there is always room for improvement. I too agree with what Dave and others suggest to improve the next gathering.
I ALSO WISH TO THANK EVERYONE FOR THE WONDERFUL TIME AND FRIENDSHIP SHOWN IN P.F.
Adam, thanks to you for the hard work you put in setting this all up for us.
