As per the member vote, the gathering for 2007 will be held in the Reno/Tahoe area. More details to come.

I would strongly suggest that we look at a mid-week window of days (Tue/Wed/Thu for example) for the gathering so folks driving out would have a 2-3 day travel window on either side and still be able to salvage part or all of a weekend day at home for final trip prep or recovering prior to going back to work (yeah, I know - not all of us have to go to work anymore!). Scheduling time off from work is often easier to do in a one week window rather than taking time off over a two week window. Gathering mid-week also may miss some 'people congestion' that occurs on weekends in resort/vacation areas (like we experienced in PF).
The 2006 gathering was "advertised" as a 3 day event (Fri/Sat/Sun) yet most folks (myself included) headed for home on Sunday.

As most events that I've ever been to or heard of are at least partially over a weekend, that is what I'd like to stick with.
I am, however planning to extend the length by one day, since I did get a lot of feedback stating that another day would have been nice at the 2006 gathering. So for 2007 Thursday, Friday & Saturday will be days that are planned with events. That leaves Wednesday (and before) and Sunday (and after) for travel.

Yahoo tells me it is 2510 miles from Victor to Reno. 35 hours drive time. If I leave Saturday morning, I can be there Tuesday evening. Piece of cake.

Rand McNally puts the drive from Minnesota to Carson City at 1,860 miles and 26.5 hours of driving. For me that equals two very long days of driving each way. (If I had Dave's drive I would be looking at three long days of driving. Anyone driving from the northeast, east, or southeast will be looking at much the same, or more, time behind the wheel.)
With the Thu/Fri/Sat format I'd probably leave on the Sunday or Monday before and take a more scenic route on the way west wandering through the mountains. Then early on Saturday morning I'd be packing up and making a bee line for home skipping the last day of the gathering's agenda.

Vette(s): 1975 Stingray Nomad Wagon, with Daytona front, custom hood scoop, dual side vents; 420HP 350; Doug Nash 5 speed; 1980 rear end W/4:11 gears; Cherry Red metallic paint.
Don't forget the West Coast members. They'll be able to drive it in a day or less, so they would probably prefer the weekend. Anyone who is flying would probably be cheaper Sat. to Sat.
I plan on visiting my sister in CA either before or after, so I will need to know soon so I can let her know when to expect me.

I'm curious. Realize I'm VERY new to Vette ownership. I assume y'all are driving your Vettes..?? Where, exactly, do you put luggage, even small overnight bags??? I'm assuming two people in the car (me and my husband.)
Karen
You might want to invest in a luggage rack.
If you will need to bring several suitcases, check out the neat trailers that look like the rear end of a Vette.
