Vette(s): Silver 1974 Convertible - L82 4 speed Low miles (was only 8,900 when I bought it in March 2006) - Now 54K miles. Original owner bought it as an investment for son's college expenses. 2008 Jetstream Blue Convertible
About an hour out of Charleston yesterday morning, I could hear a whine coming from under the hood as we pulled over to stop for gas and to put the top down.

Listening closely, I had a feeling what it was and decided to chance it.

About ten minutes up the road, the whining turned into a SCREAM, so I dove off on to an exit ramp.  I loosened the adjustment bolt for the AIR Pump and worked the belt off of it to make sure.  Starting the car back up, the whine and the scream were gone.  As much as I hated to kill a brand new belt (I had all replaced before the gathering), I got out a knife and cut it.

Problem solved.  Oh, and I did tighten the AIR Pump bolt back to keep it from moving.  Total time off the road was maybe 15 minutes

Outside of that, no mechanical issues to or from the gathering for us.  We hope everyone else was as lucky (outside of Duane's power steering hose)

I wanted a Corvette my whole life, but I never dreamed of all the wonderful people I would meet because of it!
