You know, this was a serious, legitimate question and this thread has turned into a big joke. I know everyone here has quite a bit of time, money and sweat invested in their cars, so I don't get the amusement. I think this is really something that needs to be addressed by the group or the powers that be. Are Kalynn and myself alone in this?

I agree with you that this thread got way off topic and I moved the "joke" posts to their own thread in the General Non-Vette discussion forum.
I understand that you are concerned about your Vettes. As I mentioned aboved, I don't believe we need to worry about security in Carson City. If one or more people do believe this to be an issue, you are more than welcome to pursue security on your own.

Okay, first I thought I was loosing my mind when I couldn't find my post about an awsome alarm suggestion.
Yes this is a serious subject but I don't think anyones gonna walk into the Holiday in parking lot and steal a bunch or even one Corvette. A collection of cars like thast is going to draw too much attention at an hour of the day or night. And I don't think we were making fun of the subject either, alittle humor never hurt anyone.
This is my security plan http://www.clifford.com/g5/sec_rs/default.asp With the alarm set you can barely touch the car without setting off the alarm.

It is with deep regret that you did not take my suggestion of LoJack seriously.
There are several members on this forum that are policemen that gave me that advise last year and I thought it was the most logical choice.
That is why I passed the info along.

Just curious, why don't you believe there is anything to worry about? Do you know something I don't? As far as Lojack, we have that and an alarm too....doesn't stop a thief. I'm in the car business and have seen recovered Lojack cars...... I even sell Lojack through the dealer I work for! Not always pretty. What about vandalism? No electronic security system can stop that. I have been to bike week at Laughlin where hotels have special parking with added 'special" security for the event and guess what? Bikes still disappear! I really don't feel this has been taken as seriously as it should have been in the initial planning.... Don't think anyone would steal a Corvette, Cilrah? Why do you think an alarm became standard equipment......... Not trying to be an a$$ Also, according to Hagerty Insurance, the most stolen collector car is a Corvette, 68-72.

Vette(s): 1979, 350sb, as my kids affectionately call it "shit brown" Corvette purchased in 1996. 84,000+ miles. Not a show car, but I love her just the same.
So what do you all do when you take your rides to the grocery store, or the beer store, or the son's ball game? Ever watched the movie "Gone in Sixty Seconds"? Cause that's all it takes with or without all this "security" you're talking about. And statistically, you're at more risk at the more common places you drive your cars to than any particular hotel in Carson City!

Oh, and by the way, Adam and the C3VR are NOT responsible to address security issues for an elective gathering of it's members. Should a majority feel that additional security is required, then that majority has every right to investigate and invest in the additional security they feel is necessary...on their own!

I REALLY do not want this (or would have expected this) to turn into a bashing. Reid (and others) have every right to be concerned about security. As I mentioned a couple times above...I, as the head of C3VR, do not feel it is necessary to seek special security. If Reid and/or other members feel they would like extra security, they are more than welcome to find it, and finance it for their particular Vettes.
Please do not continue to go back and forth about if it is needed or not. It is very cut and dry. Some people think it is, some don't.
If this thread continues to get aggressive, I will close it.
Thank you.

I would suggest if you have a VERY valuable Vette, then trailer it to Carson City and keep it in the trailer at night. That's what I would do.

I had a 69 coupe stolen from my office in downtown Hot Springs, AR in broad daylight.
unless you guys are going to have 9 people stand one hour firewatch shifts... nothing is absolutely protected..
If you use a trailer... make sure it is protected..
i would think a wheel lock is probably the best bang for the buck on car or trailer... that stops anyone not using a cutting torch..
its just inconvenient.
