Any fools, besides me, out here interested in driving out to Carson City in our cars.
If I decide to do this, I'm thinking 2 days enroute minimum and I'll have my tools.

O heck YES !
but i will be leaving from mississippi, going north to OK and running parts of ROUTE 66 to around kingman, AZ then going north to the gathering. I maynot get there fast but I will have some great pictures of the vet at historic sites on route 66. This is a once in a lifetime cruise for me and I plan on enjoying every minute of it. The trip back will be much quicker and shorter.

2 DAYS! Are you nuts? Are you going non-stop? I'd love to run with you again, but that's too much. May be I'll see you sleeping on the side of the road

That's pushing it real hard. I drove cross country for a living it can be done, but you won't be doing any sight seeing. My average speed was around 75 MPH, and I drove around 16 to 18 Hrs a day.
If you give yourself 3 to 4 days you'll have a better and safer trip. Anyone going across I-40 through Texas, stop at the Big Texan Steak House in Amarillo, they have some of the best beef you'll ever find. (2 miles west of the Steak House hold your nose, and close your windows, the stock yards are there).
If you miss that, stop off at the Cattlemen Restaurant in OK City, the steaks are just as good.

JimG, I could follow in my '06 Silverado Crew Cab and be your "support truck" maybe others could car pool with me and we all split the gas cost... my truck seats 4 very comfortably.... and I have XM... LOL
I really would like to go.... Take my Vette??.... doubtful.... Maybe my '88 Monte SS just because its such a good highway cruiser
I will be coming from Upstate NY and will probably head for OK so I can drive at least some of Route 66. I am planning on 5 days. Leave Sunday, June 16 early in the morning and arrive in Carson City on Wednesday, June 20.
Just starting to think about possible routes. Let us know when you have a planned route and timetable. Maybe we can meet in St. Louis or somewhere.

I might be down for that or ...
66 from St Louis to Oklahoma and then to Carson City... Could be interesting.... Looks like we'd have to cross Colorado and drive through the rockies...Lot's of photo ops there...
