Boy, you guys must have a time machine or something........ I just mapped it from here in NJ to Carson City straight out I80 all the way and it's 2676 miles! If I average 60 miles an hour (includes stops) thats 45 hours! If I'm lucky.
The route you are talking about is longer and if you go on RT 66 it will be a lot of hours!! How many hours do you plan on driving each day?
I would love to go with you but I don't know how much time I will have. I'm out of work and don't know what kind of vacation time I'll have if I have a new job then. If I don't have a job by then, well who cares about time

I'm not hard over on anything yet.
Hey Iron82, you wanna work on this East to West thing together so we can all kinda run together? Or you gonna do your own thing?
I've got alot of different ideas I can go with... all add up to about.48 hours driving which at 12 hours a day of iron butting is 4 days... so 4 days out, 4 days back and 4 in the middle.....this could be interesting....

If you leave early Sunday morning, June 17th (Father's Day) and take four full days, that gets you to Carson City Wednesday night. I am thinking of leaving Saturday morning and doing it in five days and hopefully get into Carson City Wednesday afternoon. Then we might average 600 miles per day. Still long days but doable on interstates.
What do you guys think?

Apparently not much thinking going on right now.
Get out your US map and start planning so I can meet up with ya.

Has anybody thought about triple A? They can give you two routes - one for short distance and one for scenic. You could plan one way out there and a different way back. I'm in northern Ohio and at this point, we are pretty flexible. Plan on trailering the car. My car would make the trip fine, but I don't think this old back would stand up real well that long, besides my F150 rides a lot better.

I've been considering trailering also. I went to Triple A last year, guess when I get back home next week I could run over and ask. But, I've been using Google Earth Plus to trace out the routes we could use...

[QUOTE=JimG]Any fools, besides me, out here interested in driving out to Carson City in our cars.
If I decide to do this, I'm thinking 2 days enroute minimum and I'll have my tools.

Jim,
I would love to take the ride but I think the Mrs... and I will look into flying, Pigeon Forge was long enough for us...
