You'll may know this but, I have just learned, " they just shut down 2 of the 4 lanes on I-44 through ST. Louis for the rest of the summer so be prepared to wait crossing the Mississippi (fill up on gas )" The motorcade West Meets East may have to negotiate this construction to get over the Mississippi River, Iron82, Suncountry, there must be other ways to get across the river? Ferry? It also depends on the time of day we cross? Traffic conditions, and how much we have had to drink that day..Iron82, you can check this out on your way out west?

Terry - I hope you meant I-64?  There are at least two other major river crossings in the St. Louis area.  I-270 to the north and I-255 to the south (Hope this map link works!).  The only bad thing about taking either one is you won't get to see 'The Arch'.

There are a couple of other crossings but you need to get off the freeway and snake around in the city to get to them.

Terry,  As Jim says there's four ways.   I placed them in order we would use.

First is to go through the traffic and take photos...

Second is to go around using south I-270 to north I-255 to get back to east I-64.

Third is to go around using north I-270 to south I-255 to get back to east I-64.

Finally the fourth.  There's two other routes off of south I-55.   We can take east Rt. 60 which leads back to east I-64 or take east I-155 to Rt. 79 to Clarksville or I-155 to east I-40 to Nashville.

No consern of ours but will take a look when we head east and talk to the truck drivers when we get near that area.

I don't need to see the arch. I went up to the top of the arch a few years ago so what ever is the fastest is. I will need to look at my return trip and schedule. Thanks for the info

Do we have a hotel lined up in Clarksville?

Terry,   We'll just go around the traffic.   How's this:  Second is to go around using south I-270 to north I-255 to get back to east I-64.

The traffic should be better that way.

I checked the distance with my map program and it only adds 7 miles by taking the north by pass.

Looking at it now.   We'll be on I-70 east when we get to St. Louis.  So we can take the north route to pass the traffic as you said.   Go catch!
