Our trip plans have come together pretty well. Here's our latest itinery:
Saturday, June 16 - Leave "The Ranch" (western side of the Mpls/St. Paul metro area) for points west. The Beartooth Pass opened over Memorial Day weekend so we'll be taking I-94 through N. Dakota to Glendive, MT spending the night at the Days Inn.
Sunday, June 17 - Continue west across Montana to Billings, then southwest though Red Lodge crossing the Beartooth Pass to the northeast entrance of Yellowstone Natl Park spending the night at the Super8 Motel just west of West Yellowstone, MT.
Monday, June 18 - Spend the day exploring Yellowstone National Park before heading south to Signal Mountain Lodge on Jackson Lake for the night.
Tuesday, June 19 - Head south through Jackson Valley and wind through the mountains on Route 89 to Salt Lake City spending the night at the Super8 Airport Motel (Exit 113 on I-80). Been in Jackson Valley before in the winter so looking forward to seeing it green instead of white!
*** Tuesday night/Wednesday morning - hookup with other C3VRers heading west on I-80.
Wednesday, June 20 - Head west across Utah (with a stop at the Bonniville Salt Flats) and Nevada to Carson City arriving later in the afternoon.
The return trip is shaping up like this:
Sunday, June 24 - Heading across cental Nevada to southwestern Utah spending the night at the Travelodge in Hurrricane.
Monday, June 25 - Spend the day exploring Zion National Park ending up at the Days Inn in Cedar City, UT for the night.
Tuesday, June 26 - Spend the day exploring Bryce Canyon National Park ending up at the Days Inn in Beaver, UT for the night.
Wednesday, June 27 - Head north (I-15) and east (I-70) across central and eastern Utah into Colorado ending up at our daughter's place in Boulder (just north of Denver).
Thursday, June 28 - Spend the day wandering around the Boulder area.
Friday, June 29 - Head north on I-25 into southeastern Wyoming, cut over into the Black Hills region of South Dakota ending up at the Days Inn in Wall, SD for the night.
Saturday, June 30 - Head east across South Dakota and then northeast in Minnesota arriving back at "The Ranch" late in the day.
Had to scrap going to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon, the Four Corners area and the Moab area of eastern Utah on this trip as there just weren't enough days to spend seeing everything. We'll have to catch them on another trek. Also have to skip going down to the CAC CruiseFest in Colorado Springs.
If anyone would like to join us for any part of the trek just let me know. The more the merrier...!!!
Are we there yet...?!?!?!?

Hey Jim, Do you have hotel plans for Tuesday night around Salt Lake City?
Dave W., Larry (Tuxblacray), Marion (Eurodesk), and myself will be coming out Rt.80 and will meet up with you there and drive to Carson City on Wed. Let us know if you have any other ideas on meeting up.
Thanks,
Dave

Dave,
I haven't booked any thing for our trip yet (except for at the DI in CC). Will be doing that over the next week or two. Being a member of the Choice Hotel chain's "Frequent Sleeper" program I'll be doing some searching for what is available in the SLC area and let you know what I find. Don't need anything fancy, just comfortable and quiet. If you have anything lined up already let us know.
Not knowing what the daily traffic is like around that burg something on the west side would be preferable to make getting out of there easier in the morning. I know that the airport and the lake are about the only things out there on that side ouf town. We'll be dropping in from the north (Logan/Provo) but not sure about the time. Probably be late afternoon/early evening at the earliest.
We had planned on trying to meet up with anyone who was in the SLC area Tuesday night for the run to CC on Wednesday (with a possible stop at the Bonneville Salt Flats) so we'll be in touch.
Sounds good to me.
Just want to be sure we get in Carson City by around 5-6 pm on Wednesday to check in at the hotel and walk to the restaurant.

Jim, it sure would be a shame to see Zion NP and Bryce Canyon NP and miss Canyonlands and Arches NP's. Canyonlands is the most beautiful part of the US that I think I've ever seen, and I've been to every state but Alaska. Of course we entered the park by 4x4 on backroads which made a big difference. Which ever route you do take, have a safe journey, and see ya in CC.

Depending on how early we get rolling on Wednesday the 27th may allow us a little time to check out Canyonlands or Arches NPs. Don't want to be rolling through Denver at rush hour.
REALLY wanted to get to the North Rim and see either Hoover or Glen Canyon Dam but no time on this trek.
