I live about 3 hours from Reno, & between the 2 Corvette clubs I belong to, we have a lot of events at both places, Reno/Tahoe. Both places are awsome, but in the summer, they are both real busy with tourists from all around the world. If you would like to go to a place for Corvette entertainment, then might I suggest Redding Calif. You have Lake Shasta, & can take a day drive up around Mt. Lassen it's really beautiful on that drive & interesting. You also have the Fether River Canyon drive which is another beautiful run for Corvette's. I am sure I can get the R.A.C.E. Corvette club & the Serendipity Corvette Club to help with anything we would need. We could also take Hwy 36-W to Platina, CA. The road is classified a historical Hwy., & Platina is where Gold & then Platinum was discovered by the 49ers. & the road is also made for Corvette's. We can go to Corning the olive capital of the world, & have some olive tasting, it's right off I-5. There are many more attractions we could do, & like I said I know I can get the 2 other Corvette clubs to help in any way. This is just a thought, & if anybody is interested, I can get a lot more info.

If there are interesting cities or things to do that are within 1 hour drive of any of the three cities, then by all means, let's hear about it. I don't see a problem if we have to drive 1 hour from our hotel to see/do something cool.
Thanks gang!

[QUOTE=Adam Wartell]While I appreciate ideas for other cities, the three at the top (Reno should be considered along with Tahoe since they are so close) are the choices for 2007.

I'll have to agree. Driving any distance is cool. I have vette and will drive. Just like we did going to Tail of the Dragon.

I vote for Reno/Tahoe.
I grew up and left southern Cal in the mid 70's and have no great need to go down to San Diego. Lake Tahoe is certainly a beautiful area and well worth seeing. Been there a couple of times but that was back in the 60's and 70's. Never been to Salt Lake. Reno and Salt Lake is about the same distance for me so either would work. Just prefer to be in the mountains.
None of them would be at the top of my vacation list, but if you put a gun to my head and made me choose, I would pick Lake Tahoe, based on it's scenic beauty and the mountain roads. If that wins, I would be in favor of staying somewhere between Reno and Lake Tahoe, where it would be cool at night and no traffic congestion. And the hotel rates would be lower than the big cities.

That's an interesting idea about staying between the two cities... like you said, less exepensive (probably), less traffic, and easy to get to either Reno or Tahoe.

My two cents is to stay away from the crowded cities....we enjoy places where we can sit back and DE-STRESS from our jobs....(aka..cruise some senic routes, take in a few local tourist traps )
Bob, when does peak season kick-in in the LT/Reno area? be great if we timed our get together a few weeks prior to avoid the higher costs and crowds....

The best time to do this might be mid-May or earlier.
That may be a problem for families with kids in school.
When does the snow melt in the mountains?
