Ferget about co-ordination it with Hot Aug. Nites. I would be willing to bet that even most of the motels in Tahoe are booked already for that week. ALL the motels raise the prices dramatically that week, and HAN already has 5,500 cars registered for next year with a waiting list of almost 2,000. One of my neighbors works on the HAN committee. When the people who were here this year leave the hotels and motels, they make reservations for next year. It's like that every year. It's Reno's biggest event of the year, pumps up the money spent by millions. We went to Summit, cause they have HAN sales and I had Summit bucks, then we went to the Peppermill Casino, stood in line for 30 minutes for dinner, and looked at cars for about 30 min. I've had 14 years of  Hot Aug. Nites, 30 min was about enough time for this year

There's also a Corvette event the third week in June at Lake Tahoe. I don't
know if the dates will be the same next year or not.

Dave (PUMPS), I was hoping that maybe Adam would consider the week before HOT AUG. NIGHTS for our gathering so we might get a glimpse of some of those 5500+ cars coming into the area. Or if we wanted to, we could stay for HAN's!!!

Dave(Autom8r), I seem to remember your 'war department' telling me that she wouldn't ride in your Vette with you . Would that change if it was just a pinstriped version on the CTS-V? I've got an idea, you drive the '38 GTO, and when we all get there you and I'll swap cars. My '78 doesn't have near the HP that yours does, maybe that way she'll ride with you around the LT/Reno area. What's ya think of that man?
Well I hate to say it but, if the gathering was held in a double decker outhouse in the middle of the Artic circle - contradictions would abound but a lot of us would show up. I think we need to stick to the three picks and give the west coasters and advantage in the voting. I'm a little disappointed to see that al lot of the west coast members are not intrested in voting for a gathering in their area. That means the midwest and easties will control. Since we probaly outnumber the westies, wouldn't it be fairer to give the westies a little more vote power? Like say 2 to 1. I Love to hear all the suggestions for other places, but for this one time can we stick to the three proposed? I'm getting old and have a hard time remembering if I kissed my wife goodnight and put the dog out or if it was the other way around, So please keep me on track and try not to confuse me anymore  AND I thank you for your support
I'm with you Al, I would like to have seen the group flood the poll with suggestions. Maybe it's just early in the year yet?
I am just waitin in the background to see where the decision is made. Lo and I have decide to buy another vette so we can drive in style (more for comfort) to this event. Ol' Tux might not make that long a drive (neither would my behind) an I'm not shovin him in a box ta yank accross the country.
I aggree with Micki though, gettin ta meet the members an doin some stuff together is the best part!!! Big cities skeer this poor ol' county boy so I vote fer the laid back atmosphere.
As fer the outhouse thing you and Terry enjoy! I gonna buy Mike a couple of extra disks ifn'n yall plan on usin that thing!

Chuck....

Actually.... she isn't exactly crazy 'bout riding in ANYTHING with me on twisty roads, she even cringes on the off-ramps. She would prefer the '38 Goat, but I ain't drivin' that log wagon across the country either, but it handles like an old Nova on stiff springs ('69 Nova front clip firewall forward), in other words it handles like a brand new stiff sponge. Maybe I could get her to ride with you, but she grumbles at anything over 45 MPH.

She definitely doesn't like the V in the twisties. It sticks like glue and has Z06 'Vette power and an instant "OFF" button on the wheel for the traction-stability control.. I plan to have it on the "Tail" first opportunity....

Vette(s): had a really nice one. sold it to a good friend. Purchased 2004 custom coupe in Feb. 2009 did not tell anyone here until August 2009. BAD I KNOW.

food for thought, this came to me in the middle of a brain fart, i voted for Reno, i like to gamble, but the other thing is, is it such a good idea to have all of these nice older corvettes in the san diego area, i mean isn't it close to mexican boarder?

jose just got a new chebby

Dave: Thats hard to believe because I followed her going in on the Tail of The Dragon and back out. There was a time or two that I had to play "catch up". I couldn't keep up on the straights at all, I thought she had a lead foot. Of course her C4 has more HP than my C3. It sure was fun though. I had a blast that day. I sure put my lil' ol' baby thru the paces, I'd never driven her that hard in the turns before.

She's welcome to go cross country with me, I sure plan on driving. Depending on the timing of this trip, I'll either be going early or staying afterwords to go see all of my family out west. I've got'em scattered all over about 5 states out there and I've promised to come see all of them when I come out next time.

   Later Man, Chuck

My 2 cents:

Been to all these places one time or another.

Reno/Tahoe/Carson City/VA City/Truckee - cool place to visit and lots to do......especially drivin' around - an East Coaster's delight, I spent a week there just drivin' around and see'n the sites. ( Ponderosa - Silver Mines, Museums, Train Rides, Gamble in Nevada part of Tahoe, etc)

San Diego - big city, probably lots to do, - Zoo, Sea World, MEXICO???

SLC not familar at all with this place...was there when I was 10 and swam in the Salt Lake...LOL

I think Tahoe, but be prepared for some cost.

Bruce

I'm really excited it's going to be on the west coast. I can talk momma into riding in the Vette to Reno/Tahoe because it's only a 4 hour drive for us. There is so much to do in that area that it would be hard picking what things to do. If that is where we end up I think May might be a little early because they have been known to have some nasty weather in May. I be a comin.. will be fun to meet some of u's

Chuck,

You talking about her "lead foot" does my heart good. Maybe she is starting to see the light, but are you sure she got over 45 MPH???? I know I had rubber flecks caked all over the rear end of the Silver Fox when I got back to the motel.

I think we'll make a 2 week trip out of it. There is a lot of stuff out that way I have never seen.
