[QUOTE=Adam Wartell]Oy vey.
First, I'd have to make sure that weekend worked for me.   Works for us a lot better than any date in May
If so, that would bring us back to the "Should be go to a location when no other Corvette event is happening or not?"  Although at 400 cars, it is a big show, but it is no Carlisle or Funfest...so it doesn't sound like it would be a crazy hotel/traffic situation.

Then, if we decide to go during this event, we're back to the "should we just go with the show schedule or make our own?"  "If we make our own, should we include any parts of their schedule, and if so, which part(s)?"
We could do their show and still do our thing too. Most of our thing being at the hotels and restaurants anyway. I personally think it is a wonderful idea and it would free up Adam to have some fun with a little less stress.

It looks like their schedule occupies Friday and Saturday. We'd be arriving Wednesday night which would allow us to have our own schedule for Thursday, then catch up with and use their schedule for Friday & Saturday.  Would make my life easier, I know that.  Looks there there is a $55 reg fee.

Also, we may have an issue where some people like the idea of joining their show and others that want to be our own thing. Thats the wonderful thing about America!

On the surface, it sounds like a good idea to go that weekend.

Thoughts?  I personally am all for it !!  Relaxing time with friends and a structured event that we can enjoy without killing ourselves planning it. Also  a great opportunity to recruit more people from the show.  Now a list of hotels please. Something nice **** room service

Are there conflicts with any other major Corvette events anywhere in the country that weekend?

If the April dates work with Adam, it sounds like it's a win win situation for us.

It would be cool to see a bunch of vettes, and to be around a bunch of vette-heads. Between the show and location, there would be a lot to do. I would probably do one of the cruises and the parade, but I don't plan on showing my car.

It sounds like a lot of clubs go for that weekend, and since I consider C3VR a club (and the one I'm the most active in by far), it would be great to be able to say that we're there as a part of a world-wide club. How many corvette clubs can say that?   With Terry going, we'd probably get noticed as having the club member who drove the furthest, coming from Alaska. We might even have the largest club turnout.

It seems like it would be fun for us, and it would get the word out about C3VR since the media covers the event.    Bry585012007-10-30 15:58:47

I'm for it as well.  It would give us the opportunity to increase C3VR awareness too.  It was a fun show last year.

If Adam is OK with the April dates and with having our meeting in conjunction with another Corvette event, I am all for meeting in Hot Springs in April.  I agree with a previous post that this would increase C3VR awareness and it would be fun to be around additional vettes.

[QUOTE=JDGrant]Last year the only event downtown was the 100th Anniversary of Hot Springs being a National Park. By the way we were the first national park in the entire nation! Cool

It was very conjested because of that but the good news is, that it will not happen again for another 100 years so we are safe for 08! phew

John you should check with some of the hotels...  I'm not sure the race meet people will have fully vacated by then.

Clarion on the Lake would be a good host hotel but is probably already booked.  There are a lot of  good hotels there in town.  Should not be a problem.

There was a big car show at Carson City when we were there.
I don't think any of us entered the show.
Some of us went to the cruise-in Friday night. Can you say FREE?
Of course, that wasn't Corvettes only. It was open to all.
There were some pretty unusual rides there.

I probably would NOT show my car, but might go to look on Saturday.

Sounds great to me.  I wouldn't be able to go to both the HS event and C3VR, as they would be too close together.

I agree with 71Shark that the Clarion on the lake would make a GREAT hotel.  It has a great view of the lake and is very close to the downtown area where the events are held.

Are we there yet?

Ben & Adam,
I have checked with three different hotels concerning the dates of the C3VR Gathering during the CACC HS Corevette Weekend.

So far there seem to be no problems with 30 to 50 rooms being blocked out for our event 4/16/08 thru 4/20/08 during the HS Corvette weekend and no conflict with the live horse racing crowd.

The three I contacted are:

The Arlington Hotel, (on Central Ave., downtown & CACC host hotel) One note: it has fenced parking with security patrols. 501-623-7771

The Clarion Hotel, (on Central Ave., directly on the lake) Possibility of segrated parking. 501-525-1391.

The Lake Hamilton Resort, (On Albert Pike Rd. directly on the lake) Possibility of segrated parking. 501-767-8606.

No matter which hotel you choose it is easy to get around town and get to all of the events and restuarants from any of the three.

The are numerous other hotels that may or may not work out better. I will be happy to research it more if Adam needs me to do so!

Adam, my only recomendation is; the sooner you block out the rooms the more likely that there will be no problems getting the number you want at the location you want since we are a tourist town and Vette weekend would be occuring at the same time.
