Hot Springs is easier if you are coming out I-40 since you come thru Oklahoma City and turn off I-40 when you get to Arkansas.
For you, it's 1733 miles to HS and 1527 to Dallas. I-40 all the way to HS, cut off at Amarillo on 287 & angle down to Dallas.

Well, the Mickster is out-o-town in Eureka Sprangs...
and, quite frankly, I've been watching the thread in amazement...I doubt very seriously that Dallas city proper would be the stomping grounds for the Gathering...I assumed it would include the entire D/FW area, with the actual location being one of the many suburbs, but...what do I know?
Apparently, the membership doesn't want anything to do with Dallas for the '08 Gathering, even tho the voting shows different(at this point).
I have been looking into things to do, such as dinner cruises in the country, laps at Texas Motor Speedway, Drag Racing at Texas MotorPlex, museums to visit, etc. Guess I can stop the process now, eh?
It don't matter to me which location is picked...we will be there, unless we are dis-invited for being from Dallas.
Just so ya'll know, I personally had NOTHING to do with Kennedy being shot here...

Joel you have a good point.
I thought they were basically talking about within the loop area of Dallas. Ifn it's around the hill country it'd be cool.
I've driven 281 to San Antonio and while it is basically straight south, it's a nice drive without too much traffic, quite a few local yocals tryin' to make money for the town, but that's pretty much everywhere.
Don't take it personal. I'd be makin' the same argument about OKC and not wantin' it here because of the same issues. We don't have as much traffic, but we don't have 6 and 8 lanes on our highways. Usually they are two or three lanes each and if you don't go WAY down southeast here, there aren't really any corvette roads.

I think I said it somewhere above, but I'll say it again. If Dallas wins, we won't setup shop in the immediate downtown area. We'll find some nice suburb for that.
Thanks.

I went for Hot Springs, never been there, been to the other two. It sounds great. The second week in May is better for me.
