Just back from the Eureka Springs Vette weekend where we met Micki & Dave(Poupon69) and Tim (71Shark). Great time and tons of mighty fine rides. And plenty of curvatious roads, too!
I'll bet Micki will thrill us all with some profesional happy snaps. Got one of Tim, me, and the Mickster in front of Poupon (she was entered in the show; hope she won somfin!).

The missus and I spent one night in Branson on the way down, just enough time to realize why it would not be such a GREAT location (traffic absolutely SUCKS!!!!) After talking it over, all three of us members agreed that Eureka Springs would be our vote, as it would be just right for a group our size.
Then I returned home to see that the vote was ON and that the list had already been reduced to THREE (yeah, count 'em, only three). And two were HUGE cities! I wasn't away that long, was I? Feel like Rip Van Whatshisname.
With all the time we have, youdathunk we could have at least had one primary election before the general election to narrow it down. I mean, ain't this America????

For what its worth, and IMHO, Dallas and KC are great cities, just too darn citified (and I dearly love my current hometown, KC). Hot Springs would be the best choice of the three, but methinks something is missing here (like, maybe, the ole democratic process).
Being a "new" guy, I don't have the "traditions" to fall back on. So, as duly-self-elected troublemaker, I suggest We, The People (I mean, the membership, that is) get to vote for a bunch (like 10 or so) of locations BEFORE we re-vote for the top three. I mean, how long would that take, especially if you set a time limit on it? I don't want to create alotta work for anybody, but shucks, how hard kin it be?? It ain't rocket surgery.
As it currently stands, my WRITE-IN VOTE has to be for EUREKA SPRINGS, AR.
If I'm way messed up, let me know and I'll head to the showers. If I kin dish it out, I guess I kin take it pretty gut, too. Probably end up gettin' my membership card stamped, huh?
And, IMHO, SEP/OCT would be the best time, too, not MAY (for weather and scenery). But that's ANOTHER issue . . . . for another night . . . .

Disregard my previous post-trip ramble. I apologize to One and all.
I re-read ALL 4-pages of posts and realize this dog won't hunt.

See ya wherever we go (probably HS).
What's nice about late spring is the long daylight hours, gotta have that.

Dallas has many opportunities for side events, including the possible use of a local road course. Local corvette clubs host events, which include using the NASCAR facility between Dallas & Ft. Worth...

I don't want to sound like I'm bitching, but I just want to try to make a point.
I have found that it is virtually impossible to please everyone all the time. If I put in more steps to the voting process, some people would like it others wouldn't. If I had less steps in the process, some people would like it others wouldn't. I try to find a balance where the majority of people are happy, knowing that others likely won't be. You also have to remember, much of my decision making is based on how C3VR fits into my life. Especially when it comes to this gathering, since I have to be there, I have to make sure that whatever the plan is that I can make it.
I hope this makes sense. To those that I upset, I'm sorry.

Makes total sense Adam.
You can't please everyone all of the time, and I know that you do your best. We have three places to vote on and that's better than just telling us where to go. Those of us that can make it will, and those that can't will try again in 2009.
You do a great job with this site. Thanks for all that you do.

I'm back from Eureka Springs and Sundevil is correct, Eureka Springs RULES!!
The roads go up and down and a really sharp turn here and there.........I lost my hat twice!!
It was a lot like the Tail of the Dragon in PF, TN!! The scenery is beautiful!! I know Eureka Springs was not one of the pickin's...........Dag-Burn-It!!
There were millions of Vettes there but everything was spaced out good so you had a fighting chance to get on the main road. A lot of shopping for your wifes, guys (they would love that). The Ozark Mountains are beautiful.

Since things can't change........I'm stuck with voting for Hot Springs.

Trust me, there is no such thing and no traffic in any "sub-burp" of Texas. Traffic and Illegal Aliens that can't drive are what rule the roads.......it sucks in the Dallas/Ft. Worth Area. I'm just being honest, so if ya want your vette stolen or hit, come to Texas! If I could move, I would.
