Cajun Boilers sounds great, I love seafood, especially cajun.  Also, it looks like it is right next door to the hotel, easily within walking distance.  Don't think I'll feel like riding anymore that day after coming 425 miles.

I've eaten there 3 times in the last 7 years or so... I have yet to be impressed.

btw...  i went to college in Louisiana and Cajun is my second favorite type of food behind sushi, so its not that I don't like the type of food.  Ive just had at best mediocre service and food there.

[QUOTE=Adam Wartell]Anyone know anything about "Cajun Boilers"?  They seem to have a bit of something for everyone on their dinner menu.

How about "Patty's on the Lake"?
Papa Pablo's Mexican Cafe?
Whistle Stop?

All seem to be very close to our host hotel.

ive eaten at poblano's once...  not that impressed...  I like Don Juan's ( not that far from LHR) for mexican.

My wife and my older daughters love mexican food (it is not among my favorite types, but ive got no problem eating it) and they were very disappointed.

[QUOTE=dwright]Can one of the local guys who knows the Hot Springs restaurants make arrangements for a social hour/dinner on Wednesday night. If the host hotel can do that, fine. If there is a better, casual, non-national chain place that can accomodate us, and has great food, even better.

Then we can see who will be there in time to Party Hardy.

i dont know if they still do it...   but LHR used to have an al you can eat prime rib special on Friday or Saturday night...

I used to partake of that quite often.  I knew the bartender quite well at that time too!!Wink

Now that is the kind of information we need!!!

Ben- Can you suggest a good, casual restaurant, not too far from the host hotel, that could accommodate a small group of 40 to 50 people who enjoy eating and talking?

I cant really think of anything off hand...  I dont know of anything that could handle that kind of crowd on that side of town...  but I live on the far opposite side of town and rarely if ever get to that side.  This really would be more of a question for John Grant...  His office is not too far from LHR and I think he lives out that way as well.

I only know of two restaurants (neither is close by) that have that kind of capacity, one is porterhouse, which is more of a high end steakhouse (ie not casual), and the other is on the opposite end of the dining spectrum, it is called Smyly's crab shack, it used to be commonly known as smyly's "crank" shack...  and If i remember right it has a small gravel parking lot.  I havent been there recently but dont imagine much has changed.

Ok guys here is my input on the restuarant issue!

I like Cajun Boilers very much and also Whistle Stop (no Prime Rib buffet on Thursday but Crayfish should be in season then). I believe that either could accomadate a group of our size and would be my top choices.

There are also several choces on this side of town. Smokin in Style BBQ, Mustangs Pizza and Don Juan's (better than Poblanos).

Across town you may want to think of Buffalo Wild Wings, Olive Garden or On the Border (TexMex), Ruby Tuesdays or Chilis.

Being Thursday I do not think any of the places will be extremely crowded.
