with the 74. I'm going to try tracing down the problems myself & with some

Keep us informed. We are praying for your problems to be finished before PF.
Adam, can you update this thread. Thanks kindly.
Adam,
Please add me to the list. I won't be able to get there until friday. I've made reservations although I was too late for the group rates.
A buddy in our car club has volunteered to tow my car if we can find a trailer that it will go on. I would love to drive it but because of a spinal cord tumor I am only able to drive short distances before I have absolutely no sensation in my feet and legs.
Looking forward to seeing you guys on the 23rd.

Jim:
Not a problem about getting there on Friday... BUT I can relate to the legs.. I am scheduled for surgury on the 5th of July to get a "little" more blood down into my legs... Same problems you have with loss of feeling in the legs and feet...Wife has been bugging me about what happens if I have problems....Told her we stop I walk around a little and you drive ...!
Really hope to see you in PF...

My first Vette, now owned by JB79:

Hi everyone. The reason I've been very quiet the past two weeks is because I was trying to get the vette finished for the trip, and I've been holding my breath. Well, it's not ready, and it won't be ready for the trip. So I'm not going. I really wish I could, but with the vette in the shop, the camaro not being up for a long trip, work and school (using my GI Bill....having to take summer classes so I can graduate in Dec.), I just can't make it this year. So take me off of the lists. I will keep the hotel reservation until the last minute if someone wants a room at the special rate.
A few of you have asked about the car, so here's some background and some pictures:
72 convertible, one owner before me....sort of. It was purchased by a lady in 72, and she treated it like her child. When she passed away, her son got it and apparently he took a mint condition car and decided to go street racing for a few years. After he dogged it out, it sat in storage for over 10 years until I bought it in March. At that time it wasn't running, so I really had no idea of what shape it was in. There were a few stress fractures (very small) in the body. The car was in a shed, not covered, so while no water got to it, the paint is very faded and the interior has heat damage. After four days of working on the car, my shop got it running. That's when we realized that the trans had no gears. The engine was very rough, and the shop warned me that they might not be able to save either one. Well, to make a long story short, both were saved. It's the original 4-speed trans, and the original small block 350 engine. The only option not on the car (other than a larger engine) is power windows. Everything on it worked before the engine came out. I'm including pictures of the car. It's not back together yet, so when the engine and trans are going back in I'll take more pictures and post them here. I've owned this car since March and I've never driven it, and it's driving me crazy!! (By the way, this is vette number 5....all of my time and money when into the other 4 while I was in the USMC. 1st was a 79, 2nd was a 62, 3rd was a 81, and 4th was a 91 convertible.)
You guys have fun next weekend. I'll have the Texas group pick up my shirts and dash plaque. I wish I could go, but that's life. Once the vette is done, I will drive to some of the events around the country so I can meet some of you.
Take care everyone, and have a safe trip!!
