Night Classes
During work, Charlie and Mike were chatting. “I’ve been attending night classes for five months now,” Charlie said. “I have an exam next week.”
“That’s interesting,” Mike said.
“For example,” Charlie said, “do you know who Graham Bell is?”
“No.” Mike said.
“He’s the inventor of the phone in 1876,” Charlie said. “If you took night courses, you would know this.”
The next day, the same discussion took place. “Do you know who Alexander Dumas is?” Charlie asked.
“No,” Mike admitted.
“He’s the author of The Three Musketeers,” Charlie said. “If you took night courses, you would know this.”
The next day, Charlie asked, “Do you know who Jean Jacques Rousseau is?” The truth was, Mike didn’t care who Jean Jacques Rousseau was, but Charlie told him anyway. “He’s the author of Confessions. If you took night courses, you would know this.”
“And you,” Mike said, “do you know who Bill Johnson is?”
“No.” Charlie had to admit he did not.
