A driver is pulled over by a police officer who asks for his license and registration. The officer explains that the man was speeding and gets nothing but vitriol from the civilian. The officer is able to maintain his composure and hand the driver back his license and registration along with a citation, explaining the driver can fight it in court if he chooses.
"What's this 'AH' you wrote in the margin?" the driver asks.
"The officer explains, "Well, sir...that's a note to myself. I issue many citations and that's to remind me you were an icehole should you take this to court."
The man is furious but simply takes the citation and drives off saying "I'll see you in court!"
When the court day finally arrives, and the officer takes the witness stand and cross-examined by the defendant's attorney.
"Officer, my client feels he had done nothing wrong and you singled him out" the lawyer started with. "He says you were rude to him and abused your authority."
The attorney further asked, "What is this in the margins of the citation, Officer? These letters 'AH'? What do they mean"?
"That is a note to myself", explained the officer. "I write that as a memo to myself. It means the defendant was antagonistic and hostile."
"Really?" replied the man's attorney. "Are you sure it doesn't mean the defendant is an icehole?"
To that, the officer replied, "Well, sir...I expect you know your client better than I do!"
